There is no list where Liberty and the Cure Bowl are concerned. It all comes down to tie-ins and availability. The first tie-ins for the Cure Bowl are 1 team from the SBC and 1 from the AAC. If either of those conferences do not have enough bowl eligible teams for all of their tie-ins, we have a secondary tie-in with them which obligates them to take us unless we have a better offer. All the slots are currently filled, but if Memphis or Cincinnatti end up in a NY6 bowl, the Cure Bowl bid is ours IF WE WANT IT. At that point, we will be the ones looking at OUR list, and I think there is a good chance we will have better options.
I have heard "sources" from way down South say, Liberty is #1 on Cure Bowl's list.

thepostman wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 9:55 am I'm just not sure what you are basing this idea that LU will have "outstanding ticket sales" on.That’s easy. Ticket sales do not equal attendance. LU will purchase every single ticket in their allotment and any more they need to in order to be attractive

The way he answered the question made me think we would honor our agreement with the Cure Bowl in a situation like that.Ian is a wise man. This one and ONLY bowl tie in may be why we play and Kent State (mac) sets. Personally I would rather face a G5 opponent THIS year. Liberty and Hugh Freeze facing off against his old team Ark State plays well to a national tv audience.

LU is probably a more national brand.A Sea of Red wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 10:03 am FWIW, I asked Ian a couple weeks ago about the possibility of us having a Cure Bowl invite AND an invite from another bowl. If that is the case, we can probably make travel plans for Orlando if Memphis wins Saturday.

ballcoach15 wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 11:15 am I wonder if there will be a Bowl game "watch party" like there is for NCAA tournament selection show for other sports ?There won't be because there's not a set time we could get the call. It could come at 12:15 or 7:30. That wouldn't make for much of a fun event.

TH Spangler wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 12:09 pmI think there is at least one matchup where we could have the best of both worlds, ie. winnable game against a high profile opponent. When I say winnable, I certainly don't mean we won't be significant underdogs, just that I think we can beat them.ballcoach15 wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 10:44 amI half way agree, but a winable game is desirable also.TH Spangler wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 10:35 amVery true, but Arkansas State isn't a "well known" team nationally. TH Spangler wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 4:15 pmNot ideal, but could be doable for me, because I could book a flight arriving at 11:15 AM (cutting it a bit close for 2:30 kickoff, but probably OK) with return flight at 11:30 that night. One day car rental, no hotel. Probably right about $350 including parking and admission. Would not miss Sunday services with family and back in time for Christmas eve/day.FlamesHighontheTide wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 3:14 pm Latest bowl projections from 247sports and their quote on quote intel is that we are projected for the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa on Monday Dec. 23rd on ESPN vs. UAB.Hope not, to close to Christmas day for me.![]()

Uber/Lyft the entire day.I thought about that, but I've never done it before and wouldn't feel comfortable the first go-round in these circumstances. Financially, It would save me about $75 in car rental and parking. Have no idea what it would cost.
I hate you Merry Christmas :D  May[…]
