West Virginia holds on to win 20-17 keeping TCU from becoming bowl eligible. That helps us!

TCU is out! Unless App lays a big dud in the 2nd half....I think Troy will be eliminated tonight as well.

Good win by WV to knock TCU out of a bowl.

I wonder who our 2 native WV posters were pulling for in this game ?

I went to grad school at Marshall....and I can tell you, I was all in on some WVU today. Probably won't happen again, though.

So 75 of 78 spots have been filled. Here are remaining 5 games that matter.

Maryland at Michigan State
Oregon State at Oregon
North Carolina at NC State
Colorado at Utah
UL Monroe at Louisiana

Two of these are not likely to go the way we want. Michigan State and North Carolina. The other 3 we have a good chance to keep teams away from being bowl eligible.

If Cincinnati, Memphis, or App. State makes a major bowl, that would open up another spot for us. Right now I have 1 spot projected to be left, but this would open up a 2nd one.

If we count the App State game as a win, there are 6 teams fighting for a bowl spot. Only 2 spots (outside of us) can be filled for us to be guaranteed a bowl game if we beat NMST tomorrow. Here are the teams we need to lose and what percentage chance they have of winning based on BPI. I put the team fighting for eligibility in bold.

Boston College @ Pitt - 35.7%
Maryland @ Michigan State - 89.7%
Oregon State @ Oregon - 5.5%
North Carolina @ NC State - 72.6%
Colorado @ Utah - 4.9%
UL Monroe @ Louisiana - 6.2%

These odds total up to 2.15 wins, so the most likely scenario is that 2 teams become bowl eligible, leaving the last slot open for us if we win tomorrow. Even if this doesn't pan out, there's a decent shot at the Cure Bowl anyway.

Take care of business tomorrow and it SHOULD all work out.

I also went to grad school at Marshall and taught there for 3 semesters before I came to LU. I tried to pull for WVU in this game, but my heart just wasn't in it. :nono

I know.... I held my nose. But in my mind, LU is my first love so LU>MU so for today....WVU it is. I went and took a shower after the game so I'm starting to recover...lol .

Sometimes we have to pull for teams we not like. I hate Michigan, but tomorrow I will be a Wolverines fan, when they play Ohio State

Memphis plays Cincy again at home next week. Strange situation when the exact game is played back to back weeks. Memphis will have about an 80% chance in that one, meaning they likely will be the highest ranked non-P5.

You don't "have to" pull for Michican. If you do, it's just because you hate Ohio State more. That's not what these guys are talking about. They were pulling for a team they don't like because it would benefit Liberty if that team won.

I felt like I had to pull for WVU....I mean, it's tough not being bowl eligible when your in-state rival is rocking a 7-4 going into this week. :D

Yeah, not being Bowl Eligible sucks for sure. But we also play a Varsity schedule so it’s a little more difficult to make a Bowl this way. But you guys enjoy your Mazola Butter Bowl on Dec 28 :D :D

I think Army still has a shot at being bowl eligible. They have two games left against Hawaii and Navy and I think they'd have to win both to be eligible.

I didn't see them on any lists though so maybe I'm missing something.

In typical Liberty Fashion LU will be Bowl Eligible but not selected. However, it will be touted as the same as going to a Bowl because LU was Bowl Eligible.

There are more than two native WV posters on this board.

And this one has been pulling for WVU all season.

Liberty would be a more attractive team to most bowls than all those crummy 6-6 teams that get in with a conference bowl tie in. For our first bowl game, attendance should be better than it would be for those crummy 6-6 teams.
