( for craps and giggles ) LU pays x to partner with ACC to play 5 teams or more that ND does not play in a given scheduled year but ACC network has rights to any LU home games ACC team comes to visit. LU required to play 8 or 9 P 5 games total per year to maintain P5 equivalent status for ACC purposes.

LU needs to expand money on academia and develop it's status as a funded research institution. That should be the goal for the 2020's while developing the major sports programs here (football, basketball, baseball, track(cross country), softball, field hockey and swimming). We need credibility to even propose something like this as an associate type status (even though this is just for fun) .

Not a conference invite goal - strictly a monetary scheduling alliance that entices ACC - a loss to LU doesn’t count towards conference standings. We have already proven the regional scheduling aspect Just need to make it financially enticing to ACC on top of convenience. presidents avoid the flack of LU politics and education rating for conference membership - LU makes the same financial pay out it would to buy in to a P5 and avoids the politics and maintains flexibility and independence just like ND and ACC gets a built in common 2nd tier but p5 rated SOS opponent. ( worth at least a drunk convo Purple )

The ACC's deal with ND, is one of the more stupid decisions in history in my opinion. the ACC should have never started "sleeping with Notre Dame". The golden doomers are treated differently than the other 324 NCAA schools. ND should have joined B10 years ago. Indiana is not ACC country.

Why? Like them or hate them, ND is a top 25 football program year in and year out so it provides a quality non-conference opponent for ACC schools to play which helps schedule strength and all of that. It was a great move by both the ACC and ND.

You are allowing your bias to, once gain, cloud your judgement.

ACC could find better non conference games than ND. i.e.SEC or B12 schools. If I were an AD in ACC, I would refuse to play ND or B10, other than Penn State.

Notre Dame has been overrated on the field for over a decade. BUT they are still a cash cow. It’s a shrewd move to have ND woven into the ACC schedule

They are overrated almost every year which is why I said too 25 program. They have a huge following and only someone who refuses to remove their biases would not understand why the ACC/ND partnership makes sense.

Plus, outside of Clemson, the ACC isn't a very strong football conference. They need as much help as they can get.

While it bites hard that this time of year there are many great conference match ups with big time implications we will not be a part of that. I would love to see the ACC but I do not believe they see us as contributors to their conference.
Maybe someday we can pay 10mil for a G5 tie in but I will still drink from the chalice that Tyndal23 is.

If paying players and liberal transfer policy, and free agency doesn't destroy NCAA, I think we will be in a conference within 5 years.
