I don’t know if anyone’s ever brought this up. But watching the game tonight I’ve heard some cheers from LU fans. With a game as far away as New Mexico what has our away attendance been like now that we’re FBS? Are online students actually going to a game if it’s in town/are people traveling to see games?!?

so NM and NMSU become the first two FBS schools to ever lose more than once to Liberty. Who would have ever guessed that combination, let alone coming from the same state lol.

Our 1st team D has given up 14,14,10,13 last 4 games. Regardless of yards / stats that is impressive.

It just hit me, it took us to game 11 last year to get to 5 wins and it sure is looking like it will only take us to game 7 this year.

With 5 FBS games left on the schedule, Liberty needs just two more FBS wins to become bowl eligible. Those FBS games left on the schedule – @ Rutgers (10/26), @ UMass (11/2), @ BYU (11/9), @ #23 Virginia (11/23), vs NMSU (11/30).
So if we can beat Rutgers, that should give us 8 wins for the season, right?

One game at a time. Maine is no pushover. They gave Georgia Southern a pretty good game.

It's good that we have a bye week coming up. Time to heal some injuries and get kinks out of offense.

I wish we were playing a FBS school instead of Maine.

LU has more wins at this point in season than VT or UVA, if my memory is correct.

Didn't watch the game at all so its impossible for me to comment much but anytime you can get a win on the road it's a good thing.

Now we have 2 weeks to get ready for a Maine team that may be better than New Mexico State.

It is not.
UVA is 4-1, with their only loss to ND.

You're slowly converting me into a UVA fan. Good job with that.

Thank God for turnovers or this game would have been much different. I for one will take stealing a win like that.
Mack ... coming on strong was key for us in this game given Buckshot had difficulty hitting the broad side of a barn.

Cant say enough about what the defense is doing. No wilson or lloyd. Faulks goes down after first drive and out the rest of the game. Tillmon goes down and out for the game after his int. Dabney cramped up and i dont believe he came back. Espinoza was suspended. Thats an incredible effort on the road that far away against an offense thats been solid with all those guys hurt.

Said it before but this frosh class on defense is going to change the trajectory of the program. Props to gill/freeze staff for putting them altogether.

Treshaun clark has passed austin lewis i believe. You cant keep him off the field when hes making so many plays.

Mack is an AGG like talent. I like frankie and pickett too but mack should be getting no less than 20 touches per game going forward.

The line and buck are just week to week and matchup to matchup. Unfortunately thats going to stymie our offense some weeks and wont change until next year. The execution has just been miserable. Buck and hickson have left 21 pts out there on the goaline in a combo of about 5 plays the last 2 weeks. Throw in the probert misses (one was excusable for 51) and weve left no less than 24 points on the board that were WIDE open or chip shot fgs the last 2 weeks. Have to clean that up.

4 and 2 is a great achievement and winning road games is always valuable.

Bye week could not come at a better time to get these guys some time to heal.

Your continued negativity toward all things UVA, in spite of the realities of the present state of both their football and basketball programs under the current coaches, is mind-boggling.

I would not trade Liberty's current duo of Freeze and McKay for the football and basketball coaches at any school in the country. Having said that, if we were forced to (let's say in a hypothetical Bernie Sanders regime where the socialists also gain control of the Senate and the NCAA is replaced by a government agency), I don't think we could do better than Mendenhall and Bennett.

I hope you are correct. However, we are capable of losing the rest of the games we play as well. We only have 2 more home games and if I recall correctly, NMSU was rated the worst team in the country and we only beat them by a slight margin.
I admit things look pretty good for us becoming bowl eligible and 8 wins would be an outstanding result for us. I just hope that if we get into a bowl game, it is close by. I plan on going, no matter the location/opponent.

Question, why play a single 1st string player against Maine? Not because of perceived talent level but because that game literally means nothing (we loose oh well we already have one and only FCS victory). We get all second and third string some game experience?

Because players are still trying to get used to the system. Did you see the last two performances on the field? Yikes! Timing, scheming, etc all need to be worked on.

Also, when/if we lose to Maine, the headlines about losing to an FCS will be fast and furious. Those who hate us are waiting for ways to pick apart our FBS move. We will have our hands full playing our starters. Maine is good. Going into selection season 7-5 or 8-4 just smells better than 6-6 with an FCS loss.
