The problem is to the average basketball fan here at Liberty, when you say Mens basketball, they say "Larry Blair." The same goes for women, and she doesn't even play here anymore.

We have a stage three times a week where everyone gets together in the entire school. Let these guys be the face of the team and not Duane or Johnnie to give a two second blurb about a game tonight. I'd be more willing to come if wasn't interested and I saw Risher, or Hubbard, or even coach Dunton if they were given a few seconds. To put faces and names together.

Just a thought.

I couldn't agree with you more. When I see the chapel services on TV I am amazed to see the Vines so full. We have a great advantage/opportunity to announce games to our student body.

How about for big games they offer to cancel the Friday Convo if the vines has 7,000 or more for the duration of the game...

even better, let's just pretend everyone is going to convo and when they get there a basketball game breaks out and then the basketball players yell surprise and enjoy the game, it'll be a packed house

In all seriousness, you really cant do Tally's either, while there isnt anyone up at LU that would have a problem with what you are trying to convey, there will be the OLD southern baptists that would see getting out of convo as a reward...we gotta figure something out though

I'll tell you my favorite sporting even of all time is when JJ Redick played his final game of his High School Career in the VINES! thats right, it was crazy....I'll never forget it, I sat at the top in a folding chair with a few of the coach's b/c there wasnt a seat open in the entire place...and for those of you who havent been in the vines when it's packed, it's electric....JJ was shooting from half court and ended up with something like 45 points....it was the best individual effort i've ever seen at any level...another interesting note (talk about good fans) at the time of the game he committed to Duke, so Duke had some Camron Krazies up at the game all painted up and doing chants

last thing, I guess coach K knew the kid was going to be special b/c he sent up a trainer to check out his ankle before the game to make sure he isnt playing hurt

They couldn't fill up their 1000 seat arena last year and this year they're selling out of game 4 and 5 days before it's even played.

Is that all it seats 1,000? I've never been there for a BBall game, only Baseball....well if that's the case then we would have sold out this year a few times even with this season

Could you somehow move the time of the convocation to the eveing, right before a big basketball game...

Let's say we are playing Radford, and KK actually lets us play the game when the students are there.

Let's say it was on a Wednesday night...could LU move convo from 10:00 or 11:00, whenever it is, to let's say 6:00? You couldn't have the seats on the floor, but don't they changed the schedule of convo for superconference? Don't they change the entire class schedule for superconference?

Just a thought.

By the way, the cheerleaders on the bus thing is pretty funny on the other thread for road basketball...maybe that's how we increase road attendence!
