It is a tradition unlike any other

Purple, how does it work? Do the freshmen start by burning a recliner, then the sophomores burn a love seat, the juniors burn their first couch, and the seniors burn a sectional sofa as a group project?

It’s a Fraternal Secret. Certainly not one we’d share with someone from the States Junior College :)

Marshall doesn't burn couches; we just win national championships (IAA) and bowl games!

When LU beats WV in ANY SPORT, we should burn a couch in Purple's yard.

Your assuming they know the difference between a couch and a loveseat? That a pretty big leap of faith!

Not creative enough to start your own tradition eh? Plus you can’t even get that right.

Ballcoach, you mentioned that idea at Hardee's, but I thought you meant to keep it on the down low?

But in West Virginia, our family trees don’t fork, so....

Loveseat? Is that where West Virginian males sit with their sisters? Or sheep?

I enjoyed both trips to Morgantown. I wouldnt consider this regional for recruiting purposes ( we dont recruit the NE). However the entire state of WV is blue and gold, so for our fans this is a great chance to play a lot of neighbors and family.

Coach Brown will probably think twice before scheduling LU after last year.

I've never met a WVU fan in Huntingon or Cabell County. There they only wear Marshall green.

One county. But you have a fair point, Cabell County is 50% green.

Hey. The State’s Junior College is bound to have a handful of fans. Bless their hearts

Another reason why is the fact that WVU only has three non-conference openings per year.

And as a WVU fan, trust me, you don't want them playing at Liberty.

A bit far, but LU would travel well enough for a 1 off road visit - similar to Vanderbilt - get Big 12 / SEC in the mix vs all ACC P5 games we have going would be cool. Preferably we pony up enough $ to do a 1 for 1 for each - if we were going to pay $25 million to join Conf. USA - splash that same dough around for 1 for 1 P5 games - it is doable. We visit for $250k , pay them $2.5m to come play - loss leader economics but builds the brand/base - it all works if we play 6-7 P5 as an Indy and is recouped when we renegotiate our ESPN deal when current contract is up ( my bi-weekly subliminal P5 message brought to you by Netflix )

Most of the P5s only have 3 noncon slots available given their conference makeup and schedule. Even if the CFP is expanded to 8 teams as people are clamoring for, most teams are going to want opportunities that can up their q-rating points with the committee and avoid games that are a lose-lose proposition for them, even if with us putting a whole lot of money up on our side. Getting someone like a West Virginia or Auburn or Ohio State or any upper to midtier P5 will be an uphill climb for us for the next few years. Now if we can string together some 8-9 win seasons and get our exposure up in these succeeding seasons, those calls will come because schools will see us as a quality midlevel opponent. Now on the flipside of that, us showing sustained growth can make it tougher to get quality games at Williams Stadium beyond 2022

Who puts WVU as an upper tier Big 12 team ? Again - the top 10-15 Programs in the country have that philosophy BJ - the rest try and schedule for near guaranty undefeated non con or have only 1 game that is considered a toss up or are actual underdogs.
