Oh, I won't do anything to embarass the school. I wasn't trying to imply that. If I want to go to Blarney Stones or Senor Frogs or something like, then I don't want to worry about some overbearing RA writing reps for just hanging out or something like that.

I did get invited to a Ramen Noodle wrestling event. I'm sure that would embarass all of the alum.

Well this weekend is Band Parents Weekend. There will be a continental breaksfast, with devotions taking place after the morning rehearsal. Dr Falwell will be the featured guest. After the game and some downtime, there will be a banquet honoring the parents in the Schilling Center. The weekend concludes with the marching band and their parents being honored during the 11 AM service at Thomas Road Baptist Church.

Well the marching season for the Liberty University Spirit of the Mountain is now over. We finished with a rousing performance to the press box side, and we were joined by the Liberty Christian Academy Marching Band as we played one of the selections from their show.

We did have a major highlight today. Andrew "Fred" Williams proposed to his girlfriend during the second quarter. She was sitting on the baptist side and so Fred took a dozen roses and a cameraman (he was filming for the band promotional DVD) anbd went over to her. after the rest of the trumpets played a stands tune to draw the crowds attention, the first two rows of the retreat block unfurled banners that read "Amy, Will You Marry Andrew?" as he offered her the ring in the stands. She of course said yes. Hopefully somebody got pictures and put them on facebook or something.

Next up is the Virginia Christmas Spectacular for the brass and the Annual Band Christmas Banquet at Eagle Eyrie to close out the year.

Congratulations to Tyler Loftin, the drum captain in the band. He successfully auditioned with the Boston Crusaders Drum Corp, and will be marching in their snare line this summer.

Even though I realize you jest to some degree; on a related note let's call a spade a spade: I think LU takes care of embarrassing itself on select occasions [insert PR/Media/Athletic gaffes here] on its own accord; so it's a two way street there, with, I would submit a more fiduciary responsibility on the part of the institution as students are the consumers to what LU is, an academic product/service. So, I would respond with a "remember, LU, your academic & general reputation represents the alumni who are trying to work outside the sugary christian bubble."

Dr Kerr is taking suggestions for the 2007 marching band field show. He has opened it up to the members of the wind ensemble and this past years marching band but I'm sure that if someone from outside offered up some really nice tunes I'm sure he would consider it.

The bigger question is...
...did CD marry "up" like the rest of us apparantly have?

Alright boys, in 2007 the Liberty University Marching Band will take the audience on a musical trip around the world (after taking them on a musical trip across America with Made in America in 2005). The show is entitled, "Rhythms of the World" and features the tunes:

Malaguena (Spain)
Riverdance (Ireland)
Russian Sailor Song (Russia obviously)
Ballet and Brass (USA)
Africa (hit song for the band Toto) (Africa obviously)
