The SEC lost!! Say it ain't so!

All jokes aside, I don't think anybody saw Clemson blowing out Alabama. They played about as well as they could have wanted to and Bama made some very uncharacteristic mistakes. Clemson is clearly the best team in the country. Congrats to them...

Now I just hope some other schools can get their act together and close the gap a bit on these two.

Great point brought up last night. They were talking about the Clemson true Freshman receiver Simms. He wanted to go to Alabama but he wasn’t sure his position coach would be there so he chose Clemson. They mentioned some astronomical number of turn over rate for Coaches that has had over the las 5 years and compared it to Dabo’s staff’s stability. It made sense. A guy like Venebels (spelling) would still not be on Saban’s Staff. But he appears to be going nowhere per his choice at Clemson.
I’m not saying it’s good or bad that coaches leave Bama. I would say they would be sought after because of their success. But eventually you run out of guys that caliber to replace them with
Finally who is that big D linesman for Bama who is a Sophomore? That guy is a mountain of a man!

They were also playing without “Sunshine” under center that game

BTW, has anyone called to check on ballcoach? Is he drowning his sorrows in Whooper Jr’s? Or is he going hard core with the Double Whopper?

He'd have to come on and admit he was wrong about something. That is hard on a guy like ballcoach! Give him time.

Stability in coaching does make a difference. That is How Penn State built itself.
Even his players last night commented on come her for stability.
Yes, the young freshman receiver chose Clemson for coaching stability.
Take players as well. great in one system. goes elsewhere and struggles. These are system things.
Coaches. Yup, did great as DC here, takes HC job and fairs well but never matches the results of the old position.
When a good thing is going sometimes it is worth stepping back and seeing this is a team result even on the coaching end.

Pro teams with stability fare better. Pittsburgh as an example, Dolphins in the day.
Yeah, some tough times may need a bit of a ride but the long term payout is worth it.

What Saban did with all his changes ... wow! But, he is losing players because of it.

If we can build another culture of stability with success ... watch out NCAA FBS.

I saw in USA Today this morning, that Syracuse is ranked 22 in their "way too early" pre season poll for 2019. Article said Orange will have to replace QB and offensive line.

Ballcoach, thanks for stopping by this thread. No comments on the game last night? How well did the referees and coaches do in your opinion? Did an ACC team surprise you?

Saban got out coached. Alabama had a bad defensive game plan. Also, the Bama offensive play calling at times was puzzling. I look for some changes on coaching staff, especially on defense. Wouldn't be surprised to see a new DC.

I think you mean Justyn Ross. What a stud. That one-handed catch on the sideline will go down in Clemson lore.

Anyway, I find it hilarious that Dabo was able to go into Alabama and take the #1 rated recruit in the state. I love some Dabo too!

Yeah Ross. Not sure where I got Simms.

Plus I think Oklahoma matched up better with Clemson than Alabama

Agreed, Ballcoach, esp. regarding that fake FG attempt. Wow! What was Saban thinking? :dontgetit

There was a missed block on left side of line that messed up fake FG. But Clemson was expecting it. They never appeared to rush the kicker, linebackers held their position along with DBs. Fakes always look bad when they fail. Look good when successful.

Clemson was lined up for the fake field goal. It was quite obvious they knew it was coming and it should have been decided at that moment to attempt the FG. Saban admitted as much in his press conference.

Let's not forget who has played Clemson better than either of them 2 years in a row. Our opening day opponent.

Yeahhhh

They are losing some talent but that is going to be a tough game. I sure hope the bill is packed out for that one.

For some reason that still doesn't give me a warm in fuzzy about this game.

I am happy with Freeze but it will take me a while to truly believe things are any different.

As for filling the stadium, I wonder how well Syracuse travels .

One thing in our favor, we always play fairly well in season openers against P5 teams.

obviously alabama. alabama actually got to the redzone. they just didn't convert. th TO's cost bama too but this was way closer from a ball movement perspective than the score spoke to. bama controled the ball and move the chains with regularity, they just got stuffed in the redzone or tua got spooked.

its that kicker...he got in sabans head. somehow.

Yep. Tough loss, but happy for Dabo and Clemson fans. Clearly the game was won by Clemson's DEFENSE. They looked like BAMA playing against Texas.

knowing that you couldn't rely on the kicker i really think threw bama for a loop.
