Wonder if we could get BYU every year on the schedule if we make it an Oct game in Dallas at Jerry World - much closer for both teams and a recruiting weekend in Dallas Metroplex. Crowd would be about 80/20 in their favor but their fan base would be big enough for Jerry to give us a slot - most of those games are Sept and Nov - just another way for LU to grab some more eyeballs short term - haven’t really put much thought in to it - but sounds feasible at first glance.

Neutral sites are the worst. Plus, we'll be lucky to see 40,000 people total between both fan bases.

But it could happen. People need to dream and have big visions. Jerry senior said it. Some people want to live in the past and not dream what the future will hold. I’m not saying it will happen but it could happen and when it does but not saying it will it will show that some people had more greater faith than others.

Or something like that

That game will happen if a few preconditions are met.

Hugh Freeze is successful.
Hugh Freeze wants to retire as the head coach of Liberty.
Liberty builds and maintains a high G5, low P5 profile in 10-15 years.

Those aren't CRAZY but they certainly are not guarantees either.

They wouldn’t give up their home - it would count as our home game and simply as a carrot to take a series - it gets LU hosting recruits in Dallas and Mormons in the Midwest and the rich Mormons in Provo a great travel weekend for a game and they would outnumber us 9-1 - it would hinge on how many they could bring.

That’s because you don’t have enough faith and vision!

Take a look at see that the endowment grew by 733% from the beginning to the end of fiscal year 2015.

That's a change in accounting. We all know that the endowment at LU isn't accounted for the same way it is at other universities.

Most of the time it's an apples and oranges argument to compare our endowment to other schools.

Yes and no. Reread my post. We had a billion in cash. It wasn’t an official endowment as recognized by the IRS. Our IRS endowment was 126 million as you can see. Then yes - went to over a billion. That was the cash officially sunk into the endowment.

Either way...we have 1.6 billion or so that isn’t land or buildings.

I'm not a big fan of neutral site games unless it's a conference championship or a bowl game. That said, we just finished our first season of FBS where our attendance wasn't as good as years past, and we didn't exactly help fill up Scott Stadium against a Top 30 UVA team a mere hour north of Lynchburg. I think talk of a neutral site game with anyone at this point is way too premature. It is ok to dream though.

While I share the enthusiasm for what the future probably holds, especially now with Coach Freeze here, but we must walk before we run. Liberty needs to continue selling and improving the brand of Liberty Football and Liberty Athletics before we're ready for credible showing at a neutral site that is not a bowl game. A string of successful seasons in Football (including not playing FCS teams) and eventually a better conference than the A-Sun or the Big South will accomplish that, but it takes time.

Weather killed attendance at all home games, if my memory is correct. As for UVA game, I think many fans thought we would get beat bad, thus did not make the voyage to Hooville.

27. It was no better. Those close to the university could get a sunburn on the bottoms of their nose.

Not envisioning it as anything other than a enticement to get BYU in to a series that they may be balking at due to distance - has nothing to do with LU having arrived - in fact, quite the opposite - we get to recruit Dallas hard -they get a closer game in a great venue and allow for south/midwestern Mormons in driving distance opportunity to attend.

Why again would we want a "neutral field" series with BYU? 1) They aint a good team and 2) It wouldn't be beneficial to us. We need teams to play in Lynchburg.

As a BAMA fan, I love to see the home opener on a "neutral field." They play against great teams (or at least "great" when they were scheduled... Louisville was a bust this year!). They have more than enough "home" games because of paying small teams to come play. The fans travel well.

WE HAVE NONE OF THOSE THINGS!
