A Sea of Red wrote:Great quote from Freeze in the media session this afternoon:
I'm going to meet with everyone (on the current staff). I'm not going to be in a hurry because I've been on that end of it and its not fun. I told my wife this morning as soon as I woke up the only thing I'm dreading about today is the fact that there are families here, that at no fault of their own, are sitting here wondering what does my future hold in my profession. That’s tough for me. My compassion has grown for people after what I've gone through. I don’t wish ill or hurt on anyone whether they like me or don’t like me. I really don’t wish that on anyone. So it's difficult to know that there's some anxious families right now, and I just believe I need to get to know them, see what kind of job they’ve done, do my investigative work into their body of work, and then make decisions. But, obviously being a coach for as long as I have, I have some guys that I really trust in, that I know can help us win, and that’s the reality of this profession.

That's it, I'm in.

I recall call the Freezer stating to the jist that he will challenge this team in the off season so the game is nothing.
Does that mean we are done thudding?

Nothing wrong with thudding per se. I think there may be a place for it, but if you expect players to make tackles in the games, they need to do it at least occasionally in practice.

I may be old school in thinking this way, but I firmly believes it works. Muscle memory happens due to repetition repetition repetition. So if you constantly thud in practice instead of wrapping up and tackling someone then you can expect missed tackles and poor fundamentals to be seen during the game.

tick poor practice = tick poor performance and that was seen in our defense.

Nick Saban. . . . ever heard of him? Yeah, those boys hit during practice. The results on defense. . . need I say more.

Just a quick note here...

I really like Richardson. She sits in our row at the FB games and she's noticeably excited to be at the games. She never misses a game and sits outside no matter the weather instead of retreating inside the Flames Club glassed-in comfort. She's approachable and fun.

Carry on.

Paul Shaffner’s defense is handling their business against NDSU. They gave up 90+ yards on the first drive but have only given up 41 yards on the next 4. Colgate’s offense isn’t helping them out at all either. This is my number choice for defensive coordinator.

The most important hire Coach Freeze will make is Defensive Coordinator. Probably #2 is Specials Teams or maybe Linebackers.

So who will be Coach Freeze's first hire?

Throw out a few names, and I might even start us up a poll so we can have some fun with this. And no current LU assistant coaches. I want some outside-of-LU names.

I hope y'all do better job guessing assistants than you did Head Coach. I laughed at some of names tossed about. Still laughing at some of them.

.....or later next week. I’m just saying that Coach had some time to look into some people in hopes in receiving this opportunity to coach again. I could be wrong, but he just seem like a coach who has it really all together.

Wasn’t ballcoach the one who also said Dabo Sweeney and Jimbo Fisher would be the next coach at LU? And he was not joking. I swear he thinks he’s the first and only one who thought Freeze would be the next coach :D

What I read into this is that he wants those who won’t be coming back to know ASAP which is classy. Conversely he’s probably got to wait on some Bowls to wrap up before he can poach his people on other staff’s

He mentioned so many different names it is hard to keep track. I am fairly certain he also guaranteed that a CURRENT P5 coach would be our next coach.

I am fairly certain I remember someone else mentioned Freeze would be the next coach before anybody else...

It may have been you and I think I called you an idiot. I have been wrong a lot lately. haha

For the record, the day Gill retired, I called some people and told them Freeze would be our coach.

Forget date, but I posted on this message board, that our next coach would be a former Ole Miss Coach. I believe it was September.

The seed was planted when he spoke at Convo. He didn't come to LU to visit school of music or Cider's honors program.

Am I the only one checking every few hours to see if we have new staff yet?

Loose lips sink ships so I guess well know when we are meant to.

But I want it NOW :football

When we talk about staff this quote comes to mind ....... " From a personal standpoint, Freeze received a light punishment in the case. He would have been suspended two conference games in 2018 if he had been a head coach, but he did not take a job last year. The NCAA's ruling said Freeze promoted an atmosphere of rules compliance, but he failed to monitor his staff."

I'm sure this well be on his mind as well.
