Remember Hugh Freeze came to LU to speak at Convo several months ago. I forget actual month. Does anyone think he came to visit the new "Traffic Circle" or the School of Music ?

The could have always had this contract in their back pocket for this day. I’m not sure if Gill retired or not and it’s not important really. But I guarantee you they’ve known what it would take to get Freeze here since he was on campus last year

What’s funny is he’s going to use liberty as a redemption story have one good/decent year and then bolt. I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays next year. We have the talent to win 8 games. He does that he’ll land a job in a P5 conference.

Liberty is so dumb for making this move.

I don't know who first mentioned Freeze on this board, but I was in favor of it. Partly, because at that time I was 100% against thinking about a next coach or firing Gill. However, Gill has retired and even before his retirement I was ready to see us move on after his contract was up. In regards to Freeze, I listened to his convo testimony from last year and I have read some other things from him as well and it is very hard for me to think he is anything but repentant. If this is the direction that our program goes, I would be okay with it.

It will take more then a year. 3 years minimum 5 max. But any coach that comes to LU won’t be here for much longer if they are successful

I am 99.99% sure I was first to mention it. When he came to Convo, :football a "seed was planted".

That is who liberty is though, a stepping stone job. Its comical you guys think any differently.

With that said I'm not a fan of this move

So Hugh Freeze seems like a easy candidate. Any long shots? Mark Richt leaving Miami for LU. What about Manny Diaz? I read Rashad is a prospect..... We need good rumors. Will they focus on SEC or ACC coordinators?

The worst part of hiring Freeze isn’t the optics; it’s having to listen to Ballcoach’s incessant I-told-you-so’s. Most would get it right and not have to remind everyone about it every 8 posts.

Tell me how Gill retires and you are already working on a contract with Freeze.
I think maybe you are smarter than anyone else on the staff. I have no inside knowledge, but I don't think for a second, the move was voluntary by TG. I know why he stayed on last year and am not surprised at today's announcement. Good time for a change. Hope nothing but the best for TG, his family and assistant coaches. I hope we can hang on to Mike Brown, the RB's really stood out this year.

Yeah, what makes it worse is he thinks he was A)First and B) The only one

They’re really bad sources if you have to give them the information.

What do u think streeter will do? Same thing. Freeze to me has a shot at staying longer if its him because hes taken all the arrows for a year and now he might be ready to hide behind jr and mccaw to shield some of the arrows.

Not saying it would be forever but a guy like that could find refuge from it.

I listened to his interview on outkick the coverage and convo and ive followed him for a year now. He seems legit contrite to me.

I never really thought about it until now but the Liberty job is a great coaching job. Where else can you make 7 figures and if you go on a 3 game losing streak there's no hecklers in the stands to bother you. As a matter of fact, the only people that attend the last 2 games are the security detail. You can hear the cheerleaders very clearly. Its a great job!

Considering if it wasn't for Greg Sankey he'd be coaching at Bama now.

Once Gus gets canned at Auburn next year I can easily see him taking that job or putting feelers out at similar spots in p5 conferences once his redemption story is completed but that's just me.

I just think a guy like Streeter would provide more stability.
