I wonder what differentiates them from other programs?
Could be coaching :banghead
Or the type of player they are allowed to admit

Like, coachable ones?
Any program with kids is no different. We have our own wanna be thugs. As a coach you just hope the KIDS new life away from home does not lead to poor judgement that ruins the rest of their life.

Michael is spot on. Who we can and cant take is complete bs. Ive seen them get just about whoever they want in. There are a few exceptions but the notion gill and co have brought all choir boys in is just not close to true.

No matter what you always lose recruits when you make a coaching change..but you also potentially could gain some depending on who you hire.

I hadn't thought about the issues with having a lame duck coach. With that said I would be more surprised if they fired Turner Gill then if they decide to extend him.

Could it be that they are FCS and are playing in the Big South Conference without LU and Coastal? :fineprint

KSU is blowing out the Big South just like we were .....
They beat Jacksonville State this year, just like we did ....
2017 KSU 42-28 -- a team that won two playoff games with Samford and JSU --- lost to Sam Houston
2016 Liberty 36-21
2015 first year of football lost to Coastal and Liberty --- only season playing Coastal.
Could it be they are WELL coached?
At whatever level good coaching is good coaching --- Study

Real Time RPI KSU is ahead of our vaunted FBS status.
Yes, this means they think they can stillbeat us and I believe it.
Not sure how good KSU is because of their easy schedule. I don't think they are the second best team in FCS, but we will see. I do believe they would beat us if we played. They run the option quite well and have a very seasoned team. I suspect there are at least a 1/2 dozen FCS teams that would beat us. Hopefully that won't be the case a couple of years from now.

In other news, according to your link, Marshall is ranked 9 spots above Tech, and LU is ranked one spot above UNC.

I don't see TG going anywhere this year, and would be surprised if he were "fired" at all. I'm beginning to think the only way he leaves as HC is if he gets another option/position within the university. As good as Ian is...I don't think he can overcome the personal relationship TG has with JFJR, who I don't think will leave THAT decision up to Ian alone. I could be wrong, but I think you'd see Ian go before TG (as far as being fired) It's already happened to one AD. If a miracle doens't happen this year and we rid ourselves of TG and this staff, you all better settle in for some frustrating mediocrity for the future.

Which raises a GREAT hypothetical. How long does the Ian McCaw reclamation Project last before another University comes knocking on HIS door? The guy is great at what he does. How much longer does he stay?

...and I think how "marketable" he is now or in the near future can also play into how assertive he is on dealing with personnel issues, especially coaches who have personal relationships with the boss. If Ian has no other options at this point and TG has more "influence" with JFJR than Ian....then I guess we can probably assume TG is out of bounds.

I sure wish Jerry would allow Ian to run his department but that has never been the way Liberty works, especially with the football program. I have been told Ian is different but I would love to see Ian prove that to be true. Until he puts his stamp on the program LU has determined is the marque program I won't believe he has been given the keys of the kingdom.

I also think basketball should be the marque program, but what do I know?

I honestly think the new facility will help make that come to fruition. Ritchie has done an amazing job with the team. The pack line is in and doing its job. As Liberty does better, they will start getting better and better classes and just steady climb from here on our. Good systems do that.

I am interested to see how Ian handles this off season. I think Larry Fedora could be a good fit. My brother routinely saw him at church on Sunday mornings in the Durham area. He's also had an out pouring of love from former players on twitter. I think he just got out recruited like crazy by NCSU.
