Calvert needs several packages of plays that he can call in hurry up offense. Plays can depend on down, distance and time left. It would conserve time and keep defense on its heels.

This was a 1-4 NMSU team that was averaging 16 points per game.

I don't know that he can handle that.

And that win came against UTEP which would probably be in last place in the Big Sky Conference.

Both times we turned the ball over we were moving the ball down the field and I think we would have gotten points and New Mexico State converted those TO's into TD's like your supposed to do.

For the record, the offensive gameplan aside from a couple head-scratchers was REALLY good. I don't know why we didn't try and blitz more from the corner position or bring a few extra linebacker blitzes into the gameplan. Overall disappointed in the loss but lets give credit to Adkins the NMSU qb. He has started the last 2 games and played with poise. Their offense is significantly better with him at qb.
Sorry our defense can make any of us look like Joe Montana. Lastly the offense gameplay sucked. I don't know what game you were watching.

But lol at their offense got better. They struggled against UTEP

Delusional fans thinking that NMSU offense is just improved. No, we just have coaches that shouldn’t be coaching little league.

Gentlemen,

Not making excuses just stating the facts. We were 1 for 9 in the first half in regards to 3rd down conversions to their 7 for 13. End of the game it evened out as we finished 9 for 20 and they finished 9 for 18. Our 2 TO'S resulted in 14 points for them. Even if we had not scored then your looking at 41 to 35 and another win for us.

Fact is that our defense was practically non-existent tonight and I did expect more from them as I am sure the coaches did too. I thought we would win this game 42-24(if memory serves me correctly). However, we lost and that stinks. On to Troy and hopefully a better outcome.

I want to go ahead and make my Auburn prediction. 84-0. The only reason it will be that close is Auburn’s 3rd string will be in before the end of the 3rd quarter.

"I don't think that you really beat the other team when you give up 31 points, like we did today," Saban said, "at least on the defensive perspective."

"We need to coach them better," Saban said after the Crimson Tide's 78th consecutive victory over an unranked opponent. "We need to prepare them better. They need to be able to make adjustments in the game better.

"I just felt like we didn't do a good job of that. That's my fault. That's my responsibility. That's us as coaches. We've got to do a better job of coaching those guys, so that they do a better job when the game comes and make those adjustments they need to make."

-When I hear TG say something like this I will start to think we might be turning a corner. This is just a completely different mentality and level of accountability within a program from where we are...

It is an excuse. With our talent there is no reason we don’t win that game by14+. Coaching is the issue always has been always will be.

I’m normally not one to compare other coaches to Saban, but I saw something from him that stood out to me today.

Going into halftime, he was asked if he felt they needed to run the ball better in the second half. He said they don’t get more points for rushing TDs than passing TDs so if Arkansas was going to give them the pass, they were going to take it. There was nothing about being multiple or establishing the run. It was all about doing what they did best against what the defense was giving them. We don’t do that either.

Even though Buckshot had a fumble and a pic and some overthrows, I still think he and the offense played well enough to win most games. In the second half, the offense kept matching scores...giving the defense a chance to make a stop. LU's defense had two 3rd and goals from about the 9 yard line, and allowed New Mexico state to convert both. Defense forced no turnovers, and allowed 49 points. Also had a guy stopped behind the line on a 3rd and 1, but didn't wrap up. Very discouraging. But one positive...LU didn't quit. They made it a game until the very last minute.

I've wondered where the tipping point for students would be. We dropped down to 14,600 last year after that three game skid. Bounced back to 18k to end the season but had a noticeable drop.

In 2016, we dropped to 11,000 after starting 1-3.

Does the dip happen next week? Or can we sustain next week and homecoming? It'll definitely be a huge drop for NMSU and NSU.
If I hadn't bought season tickets in the Club seats, I wouldn't go back the rest of the year. I definitely won't be going to NSU. Troy is going to kill us next week if we play like we did today, but I have family visiting L'burg next week, so I will go and maybe wear a bag over my head.

Gill for life.

When you score 41. Points you should win. Gill needs to make changes on defensive side of ball.

Last 2 games, 49 and 43 points allowed.

Here's my thought: I've been a fan of high flying, pass heavy offenses for pretty much all of my adult life (LA/STL/LA and Texas Tech especially). We have the players to roll up video game type numbers every time out. Unfortunately, we don't take advantage of it with any consistency. If i were the coach, yeah my QB would be slinging it all over the field 50+ times, but that would be because of my offensive philosophy. The short passing game should be as much of our running game if anything. Get the ball to the playmakers in space. We should have multiple players with 5-7 catches minimum. Yeah if you have a dominant receiver like an AGG, he'll get alot more than that, but if i see my QB locking onto him at the expense of other playmakers, he'll be getting an earful thats for sure

why do most give Wimberly a pass? Our defense has been bad for years. I am definitely not saying that Gill is the guy at all, but it's clear our coaching is not good. Even from the offensive side of the ball, Dailey is not consistent at all. From my standpoint this was a must win to get us to a .500 season that we let slip away. I understand everyone's frustrations, but not coming to games is certainly not the answer. This is our maiden voyage into FBS football and we all knew there were going to be bumps in the road. I am trusting that Ian Mc Caw will make the right decisions with the program.

UTEP took 5-1 UNT to the wire last night. 27-24 F

As far as attendance, I did some game surfing yesterday and was surprised by the poor attendance at all the G5 games.

QBR 50.9 this game. He is unable to call his plays alone ... at least my impression by all the side
line calls. I said it before and I will say it again; he has reached his max is this is the best I expect to see.

I saw the stat of five sacks on Calvert, would really like to see the number of QB hurries. He seemed really off, even when he had time, but maybe the consistent pressure messed up his rythmn too much overall.

I keep reading about all our talent being squandered, which I presume is narrowly speaking of some receivers and QB, but if we have team talent why can't we stop the pressure at the line? It's a lot easier to understand these performances if we allow the fact that the majority of the team is fcs talent, rather than isolating the pocket of FBS talent we have and applying it to the entire team.
