If Christian football players want a Christian coach and a Christian education, YES (says a UVa alum). :football :pray :fbplayer
Which was pretty much exactly what happened with Chibueze and Yarborough.

Different state (Tennessee), but isn't our Christian coach/Christian education why Austin Lewis chose LU over these schools? He was just interviewed on Twitter last week about the reason for his choosing LU.
Also received offers from Appalachian State, Cincinnati, Colorado State, FAU, Kansas State, UMass, Memphis, Navy and UCF.

LU should have an in depth marketing plan for every Christian HS in America - ( slick LU schedule /poster ) sent to every head coach in a 2A or higher HS “We Want Champions “. Sponsorship / branding with FCA nationwide, etc. It is a much bigger pool than BYU has to pull from. Ties in to my national brand, playing a P5 in every conference every year - maximizing what LU offers and pushing it and planning scheduling for it now.

Agree, but the bad part is that we have to follow up such a marketing plan with a coach with no personality/fire/excitement, etc. Great guy/Christian, just can't coach or inspire greatness in anyone.

The right coach will happen Flameshaw, and I think there are plenty out there. Big picture you have to state what you want to be, plan and execute, my desire is for 2026 schedule on to be 6 p5 schools plus BYU and have a stated goal of being best Independent team - hire, budget, shedule for it and make it so by 2030. That is less of a stretch from now to then than where we were 13 years ago...I am convinced we can recruit nationally at a high level with right coach and schedule to lure consistent top talent BECAUSE of how we are different, not in spite of it.

Or, you know, we could work on being a decent G5 level program in the next decade, and be what we are. If you could lose your way to being a P5 level program we would have been Alabama a long time ago.
But Jerry said LU would be Norte Dame. Obviously that means by 2020. No need to work for it, LU will be blessed with it! If more people had just the faith of a mustard seed it would happen. People like you are the reason the Israelites wandered the desert for 40 years :D
It could happen or it couldn’t. We don’t know what the future holds.

Excellent post above by Tyndal23 reference marketing nationwide. LU needs to "spread the word" nationwide, and get recruits to campus for a visit.

Did a google search to see us in 1st place in FBS independents! Lol get a good look cause we may not see this again until preseason 2019.

Side note: I’ve just tried multiple times uploading a pic by hosting it either on imgur, tinypic, and imageshack. I only ever have issues uploading pics on this site. Any one else? It kept saying to verify the link was correct and I directly copied it each time.

Make sure you're copying a link that ends in an image file type. Imgur likes forcing the link to the image displayed on their website.

Here’s the final post of how many wins that LU will win this season:

Note: there were around 360 votes in and the majority of voters believe what most on this forum rejects. Are they drinking too much lol aid? Strong possibility, but I wonder why they believe this especially under our head coach?

My guess is most of those 360 votes aren’t nearly as educated on the issue as the people on here who aren’t hopeful for many wins.

Heres another interesting thought to ponder. What record and or other signs would make us as a fan base think TG should get another year.

For me, if he can get to 5 wins with another decent recruiting class setup by year end ( 8 to 10 3 stars and most of the rest 2 stars or multi offer jucos, and finally not look totally out classed against teams like umass odu nmsu.

On the field. I would like to see how they develop buckshot, how the defense changes and if it cant stop anything, especially against option, need to see daileys play calling improve, hope to see continued special team improvement.

Special teams hasnt gotten much run on here but they were terrIble for the longest time. I think theyve ticked up slightly the last couple years under downing. Special teams has to be solid for us to compete. Its so much about effort which is something we can control. Also nore shollies should lead to fresher bodies on returns etc.

In doing the research for another post I made tonight, I found out that since the year 2000, the average first year FBS school has won 2.75 FBS games.

Four have won zero.

The most has been 8.

If you take out those extremes, the average is 3.2.

With those numbers in mind, a 5-7 season is what we will need to be an average first year FBS team.

Great point! Coastal Carolina was a dominant FCS team with a lot of talent and a good coach that has struggled since going FBS. 3-9 last year with a win against FCS Idaho 13-7.

As I was reading today's USA Today, I saw article that said Liberty was more FBS ready than most first year FBS schools. Article also said we will struggle this season.

The Flames conclude the first of two two-game homestands with a visit from the Mean Green, who went to the CUSA championship game last year. The boys from Denton will have a new QB as well, but he will have had a few games to get acclimated AND has some very good skill players coming back as well.
Hello Flame Fans,

I created an account so I could correct some misinformation about our team. North Texas is actually returning our QB Mason Fine, who threw for 4052 yards and 31 touchdowns in his true sophomore season. Fine was named 1st team All CUSA and won the CUSA Offensive Player of the Year award.

Mason is one of only two returning players to throw for 4000 yards last year. He was named to the Maxwell, O'Brian, Camp, and Manning award watch-lists before the start of this year.

In our opening game against rival SMU, Mason Fine completed 80% of his passes (40 for 50) for 444 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions before getting pulled early in the fourth. Now SMU lost their top two receivers and their best defensive lineman but returned most of their starters from last years 7 win team. Hard to tell how good they are going to be this year, they may be down, or they may just have some early season growing pains under a new head coach.

In other words I'm not sure how good of a team we are yet. I expect to have a great offense, our defense was subpar all last year. Out defense was outstanding against SMU. Our 1st team held them to 2 first downs and 40 total yards of offense at the end of the third, after that we brought in everyone off the bench, being up 36-0. However, we don't know how good SMU will be this year. They can recruit, they usually out recruit us, and have the #1 G5 class this year.

Before we play Liberty we'll have a game in which we should easy out athlete the opponent, Incarnate Word, and a game in which we are going to be easily "out athleted", Arkansas. So I'm not 100% sure how much either of those two games are going to tell us about our season.

If you hav any questions about North Texas, I'll be happy to answer them.

PS: A quick fun fact about Mason Fine. He is of Cherokee heritage and his long term post football goal is to become a Tribal Chief.

Welcome!

That sounds like where LU is verbatim. Great offense. Defense looked years ahead of last year's team. Up and down on the next two opponents talent level.

If that is really the case, this could turn into a Big XII game fast.

Do you plan on making the trip? If so, bring some Blue Bell and something from the Coppell Deli.

I still think it's crazy a Coppell Cowboy got drafted by Dallas this year.

If you ever want to brush elbows with the big guys, Coppell Deli is the place to go. Well. It was when they were at Valley Ranch. I wonder if they still make it down.

They don't slum in the vast wasteland between Dallas & Fort Worth except for gamedays. It is all about the Star these days. Gone is the Fort Worth-esque charm and in its place is Dallas moving north.

Oh yeah, Go Flames! See I can stay on topic occasionally.
