LU was chock full of people who could wrangle free tickets. I dropped out of the Flames Club because I realized that the only people who we're treated as contributors to the programs were the ones who got everything free. That is the mark of a program that doesn't really provide a good product (unless fireworks, loud noise, and millenials with tacky jeans and spiked hair are your thing).
Evidently, I need some lessons. I have been a member of the Flames Club for 20+ years, have purchased 8 tickets in Club seating since they were available and really don't get any special treatment. I have sat in Jr's suite and the AD suite a couple of times, but it was because I was a former athlete for a special team they were recognizing, etc. Actually, with the exception of one minor disagreement, I like it being exclusive. The only thing I still don't understand is that if you have a ticket for a suite, you cannot venture into the Club area to visit friends that have tickets for that venue. I suspect it is because of the food situation. (The Club area is also a better place to watch the game).
Bod Good has done an excellent job as the leader of the Flames Club. With all of the people who feel they are owed something because the give X amount of $, I wouldn't want his job.
Everyone here should be a member, even if you are not local.

I won’t be there, but I hope we can surprise some folks.

We’re not all Big Timer’s like you. I’m still flying Commercial Coach. I feel sorry for whoever sits nes to me

One of the best perk in the airline industry is free travel, unlimited. Space available unfortunately, unless you're working the trip.

I'm excited about this ODU game and the new stadium! I'll be out of town next week, by the time I get home and caught up it'll be here! Close enough to check the weather forecast!

As for me, I will be working the game as usual but am still looking forward to it. I am expecting if the weather is good, we will have a larger than normal turnout just because it is the 1st FBS game. From then on, it will be up to marketing and the team!!

I will be curious to see how people react to the changes. Much as been made of them online and in print but we still need people to read and understand prior to coming on campus.

If the berm is open, expect to see fans sitting there, too. I just hope ballcoach remembers to bring his headphones, because there will likely be music, too.

I've heard that the berm will be closed this season due to lack of ticket sales. They want to keep everyone in the stands to help it look full.

Turf is super hot! We have a turf field at my school and when we practice on it after school it is normally well over a 100 in the south GA sun. I am drained by the end of practice this time of year, but is is not as hot in the north. We paid extra to put in white pellets to lower it by two degrees. I doubt the LU berm has pellets added, so it may not be as hot.

What concerns me is 1. How steep it looks in pictures. There is no way I would allow my son to play on it because I'm not sure which ER I would take him to after he hit the rail at the bottom of the hill. 2. There are a LOT of tickets available in my section 203. This is the first time our ticket sales have been viewable so maybe it is normal to be sluggish until the week before the game or at least I hope so.

There are still a ton of reserved seats open for ODU. I'm not sure how general admission sales are looking. With that being the case the walk up sales will need to be absolutely huge to fill the place.

It might happen but since we couldn't consistently fill the stadium before it got larger it was hard for me to believe we would do it with a bigger stadium like many on here seem to think. Our average attendance will go up but not enough to have a full stadium week in a week out. The biggest problem is the lack of support from intowners. That has always been the problem and until LU figures out how to connect with the locals attendance will have a hard time being consistently high.

I agree. I would be disappointed with any crowd under 20k.

I think the pricing structure could change behavior of some people. I am sure LU will cap GA sales and "force" people into the reserved sections. Once some people realize the benefit of not having to fight for your seat, some will probably return to those sections in the future. $30 to $35 isn't a huge jump especially for the benefit of the reserved seat.

There is no chance we keep the stadium full every week. That shouldn't be the expectation. We should be near capacity for our marquee game(ODU) and around 19k-20k for the other FBS games.

Be careful saying that. People will say you’re being overly negative and looking for things to complain about.

I would like a definition of ‘Sell Out’. Does that mean butts in seats or tickets sold? I’m sure LU can buy up the tickets and give them away. ballcoach has #sources for that.

I can be complacent with 85% of seats filled them still calling it a sellout if the tickets are sold. I know there are plenty of season ticket holders that don't make it to every game.

It’s gotta be tickets sold. But between Liberty buying up tickets (if that happens) and the $5 faculty tickets, we will know we are in trouble if we don’t have a solid 21-23,000 there.
#555723
So how will the Board of ASOR Judge a sell out? LU will buy the tickets to list it as a sell out But I feel it’s going to be interesting to see who shows up. I’m not sure there’s a bigger barometer on the schedule

Most people are likely over the oohs and ahhs of new facilities at LU. It happens all the time.

And does anyone other than people like us and some students really care about being FBS at this point? In the future if we are competitive against recognizable names, then yes absolutely. Right now? I’m not so sure it brings out many new people. And if it does, will they come back after they see what Coach Gill does on the field?

Three 6-5 season’s in a row has a way of killing enthusiasm.
Thank you.

The things that excite the fanatics are rarely what the typical person cares about.

It's probably the biggest opponent we could get that is within a 6 point spread of us. I'm glad we didn't pay for a P5 to come and clobber us next week.
