I'm willing to bet he's already on the radar.

As for quitting on Dunton...haha.

Give Dunton another year or two. He has his work cut out for him. Just leave it at that! Big Smooth nobody in their right mind is going to leave Arizona for Lynchburg, Virginia. Nobody!!! Just my two cents, if the University would not have ran out Jeff Meyer several years ago we would not have these problems. Poor Dunton is still in process of cleaning up the mess from this guy who replaced Meyer.

Good seeing you guys.

A year or two? That's abso-frickin-lutely crazy.

I have a challenge:

Someone name two students, not associated with the basketball program, and with no personal relationship, who likes Dunton.

You can't do it.

I love you guys, but I'm sorry SJ some of you guys are just too fair weather. It takes time to build a program. Also a program that had been run into the ground for many years after Meyer left. It is not an easy job Dunton has.

Fair weather? You're kidding me, right?

I drove 2+ hours directly from class to a game and came straight back, only to get back at 1am and have class all day the next day. That's fair weather?

What the crap are you talking about?

He had a few decent years. We've won ELEVEN division I games in the past two years. We have lost 10 of 11 overall and over 20 in a row on the road.

He's had his chance to build a program. He sucked at it. He needs to leave.

thats not really fair. At all.

Many of my staff (50+) hate me. But if you're an effective manager- you 're going to provoke that kind of reaction in some.

Many others (I think) love me.

or maybe just tolerate me as long as the paychecks keep coming 8)

I thought he played the 3 at Lu with Sarchet and Sneed at the 4 and 5

Sneed never really played an extended role (because of various reasons, notably the school was debating whether or not to expel him for lousy grades and fathering a child out of wedlock)

I throw that out there to say that the students do not support the man at all. In fact, most of them can't stand him.

Students go out to support a team that's coached by someone like Rocco because they like him and they support him.

Dunton's lost the students.

We'll be lucky to get decent crowds at all this year.

That would be Falwell 1. AirFalwell is the "front" group he used for his clandestine Moral Majority "wet work" in the 80's :D

Last I checked it was Lou Holtz who said something about programs as well as spiritually: "If you're not growing, your declining/shrinking" (If you think I really pay attention during convo, somethings wrong with you)

Since taking Liberty to the dance with a team that was not completely his, basketball at LU has declined dramatically. This right here is Dunton's program. His teams, not the previous coach's or anyone else, havent won a road game in 20 attempts(I may be off) He is running out of time, and unless he makes some miraculous strides upward, he shouldnt be here next year.

It looks like he and Rocco go to the same barber.

There is not a day that goes by that I don't fantasize about somone other than Done-ton filling our head coach position. I just the end of his tenure comes swiftly. I really think that we could get somone quality if we want. I just hope we don't give the job away to one of the big guy's buddies.

Just curious. Those who want Dunton Fired asap, how long have you been following Liberty baskeball?

I have a feeling most of you are current students...that's just the impression I get.

I'm a current student, so I've been following since January of last year.

Sherard could probably get more out of this team than Dunton.

To add to that:

The players don't go to Dunton when they need to know something during the game, they go to Sherard and Jones. During timeouts, they talk to Sherard and Jones. Watch the bench during a timeout. It's somewhat disturbing.

That's actually fairly typical for basketball teams. Different assistants are responsible for different positions and they'll typically get to their guys before the head guy does. During timeouts under Jeff Meyer, the players talked to Dunton and the other assistant (I don't think it was Scar but I could be wrong).

i cant speak universally, but in two teams i keep up with regularly who are actually good at bball, the players talk to the head coach during timeouts. that would be duke and unc

Lib, I completely agree with you. I was just talking about how much the guys just seem to tone Dunton out and listen to the assistants. It may just look like that and that isn't really what is going on, but it sure looks like that.

Dunton lost my respect when I moved onto the hall with the men's bball team. The former RA of the 1st floor was talking to his old friend and my current roommate and this is what he had to say about the hall. "Its a nice hall-except for that basketball team that lives there." And no-he wasn't kidding. Liberty does not need a coach that doesn't instill discipline in kids.

After the first round of the Big South tourney...we should send Birmingham-Southern a Thank-you card, we wouldn't have gotten in without them dropping down.

Guess what: Every athlete is like that (save the track team). I lived on a football dorm, and there is NO WAY that you ever wanted to use the bathroom on their side of the building. I mean, one person once dropped a deuce on a drain that was in the middle of the floor. The only positive sign was that even during home games, the coach put them up in a local hotel, so you were ensured of getting a night of quiet (although that kind of sucks for the people staying in the hotel that night, kind of like I found out this past year when I went to the Towson game). And it's not exclusive to football, one of my friends used to live on a women's basketball dorm -- she said that whenever they won a game, they'd be up hooting and hollering and celebrating; whenever they lost, they'd be bemoaning it all night.

If you can't stand athletes acting like animals, then we should just cut all of our sports. Jocks will be jocks.

I'm fine with athletes celebrating and/or mourning a loss at all hours of the night, and that bathroom incident isn't just limited to athletes...just ask a few of the seniors on dorm 17-2, they could tell you some stories. Boys will be boys  I even lived on a hall last semester where we had boxing matches at hall meeting.

But when athletes begin to get away with violating every single rule in the Liberty Way (i.e. sex outside of marriage, or something minor as the haircode), get reps and don't suffer the same consequences as ordinary students...thats when I have a problem. And to be honest, I doubt ALL athletes are like that...the tennis teams are pretty decent.
