4 Best Teams

Alabama
Clemson
UCF
Georgia

At #5 I would put Auburn. AU beat Alabama and Georgia.

I'll give you a "Roll Tide," but you are crazy about Clemson / Oklahoma. The latter was certainly one of the best four. I had my doubts about Clemson. As for UCF, they had a great season. I doubt they would have ended up on top of the four team playoff.

Oh, by the way. Scott Frost seems to be the real deal. I have great respect for him, especially how he ended the season and took all his staff with him.

Losses count, too.

UCF had to prepare for an SEC opponent once. And they had over a month to do it. And waaaaay more to prove than Auburn, who looked disappointed to be there. It was a perfect storm for UCF, and they capitalized. But if they played Auburn’s schedule, they would’ve finished 10-3, not 13-0.

Not top 4. Maybe top 8. That’ll be the conversation when all is said and done: 8-Team playoff.

No way they’re Top 4.

I kept thinking Clemson seemed softest of the 4. But the only game of theirs I watched wire-to-wire was Syracuse.

Oklahoma, even in defeat, showed last night they belonged in the top 4.

I’m putting that loss on the play callers of OU. Totally got away from what they do the last couple of possessions and OT. Had they continued to be Oklahoma they would have won.

correct. does anyone really think they would of made it through a power 5 schedule? no. don't make that win against auburn more than it was.

very impressive and you won all the games in front of you but my father's basketball team at the Y isn't the best basketball team because they went undefeated in the over 55 league.

Whatever guys, UCF is having their championship parade at the Magic Kingdom. The same Disney that owns ESPN. The same ESPN that owns the rights to the CFP. This must mean UCF are the rightful national champs!

I saw that today. AD is claiming a national title, and they’re hanging a banner for it. That’s going a little far.

UCF should have got more respect from Committee. For most of season UCF had about the same resume as Wisconsin, yet Committee had whiskers in top 10. I think UCF should have played in a bigger bowl game. Auburn beat Alabama and Georgia, and lost to UCF. If UCF or any other non P5 school gets shafted for SOS, then it's time to start shafting Big 10 teams also. In final polls, UCF should be ranked 3rd.

The committee effectively told the whole of G5, this Championship is not for you even before your season starts. There is literally nothing UCF could have done more to prove worthy of being in the CFP. It's going to greatly affect the already lopsided recruiting and probably force a dichotomy between P5 and G5 within a decade. UCF built their resume in the AAC, not the sun belt or the MAC. They were an undefeated team from the best G5 conference and didn't even= break the top 10. The current format is broken so bad that I'm not even watching the Natty because UGA already won the SEC. While Alabama didn't even play in it. Two P5 conference champions we're left out of the playoff. It is absolutely unacceptable.

Thankfully UCF is rewarding their coaches as if they won the Natty. They're having a parade and hanging a banner. Because the College Football Playoff is a corrupt machine built to drive a wedge between P5 and G5.

They played Auburn (SEC) in a New Years Day Bowl. How much bigger Bowl can you get ? They were not one of the best 4 teams in the Country so they did as best as they could hope

I don’t think the playoff is corrupt, but it’s definitely broken.

UCF’s president made a good point the other day. He said under the BCS, smaller conference schools who ran the table at least had a shot at being ranked in the top five (WVU, Rutgers, etc). With the playoff, the natural bias would be towards the P5 so the G5 schools have no shot. He suggested going to eight teams and use the BCS instead of the committee. That’s a suggestion I hadn’t heard but really like.

They weren't a top 4 team but the committee did make an effort to keep UCF ranked lower as well as keep teams like USF unranked that should have been and under ranked Memphis to help the argument that UCF's SOS was too weak to even be considered.

All this national championship stuff UCF is doing is motivated by the hope it will cause change to the CFP system. Giving one G5 team a shot in the playoffs every year would be good for the sport. It just would mean the P5 schools may have to give up some money which they have no desire to do.

Also I think this while UCF thing is incredibly entertaining and I love how it is getting under some skin of the people who have the most to lose by expanding the CFP.

Under this years ranking system you would have had to put UCF in over Alabama who was 4. Or Georgia who won the SEC

So you replace the #1 ranked team in the country. That makes perfect sense :dontgetit

You’re correct. I was looking at it wrong. So what was OU? #2? What signature win did UCF have prior to Auburn? What signature win did OU have? In you scenario youd have to drop Alabama since they were the lowest ranked team and didn’t win their conference or play in the championship game.

I don't think this can be done properly with a 4 team playoff. Lets go 10 team. All 10 conference champs. The Committee only seeds.

You have two play in games for the bottom 4 teams. The play in games are home field with the gravity of the winner playing the 1 or 2 seed.

You then can have 6 bowl games + the National Championship.

G5 schools can actually compete.

If you don't win your conference, tough luck.

That's good on the surface, but no team should receive a bye.

Most people are overlooking that Auburn was probably one of the 5 best teams in the country.

That is why I said they aren't a top 4 team but my point is the committee did all they could to make it impossible for them to sneak in.

UCF doesn't believe they are either. Like I said this is all being done as a ploy to keep the CFP debate going and I think in some degree it is working.
