You do the math on how it makes sense for him to come to LU for anything other than as head coach.

I would never rule out a Rocco return to the mountain at some point in the future. Times have changed significantly on multiple fronts since his departure.

In the meantime, Coach Gill remains our head coach.
Venables is the DC. Also Streeter has a long way to go before becoming Clemson's OC.

Ewgleen .. I wanted to say Elliot or Scott but had my mind on all the Streeter stuff going on here.

He’s referring to some random rumor cooked up by Liberty people who have consistently shown they have no inside information despite their name that says it’s a Rocco/Streeter combo. There are so many reasons why that wouldn’t be true that it’s not even worth getting into.
Oh come on that’s EXACTLY what this board is for :flamingdevil

If Rocco is as good as he (and you) think he is moving back to LU makes no sense He can get just as good if not better job than LU by staying at Deleware. Coming back to LU doesn’t really do anything to enhance his marketability

Streeter is more interesting. He’s one heartbeat away from the OC position at one of the Top programs in the Country. How does coming to LU look attractive? He’s a couple of years away from a possible P5 job (certainly a G6 or whatever they are called now) Coming to LU doesn’t speed up or bolster that possibility.

Neither wants LU to be their Destination Job

My destination job ... I could mange the closing of roads without pissing everybody off (first few walks), schedule time management for all half time activities ... I am the logistics man (if season tics are included in salary)

I am not sure that it is in either party's best interests. But the possibility of a Rocco return down the road is very real. And just to be clear that could be a decade from now theoretically speaking.
He wanted to come back about the time his moving truck got to Richmond. But he was caught, because he and Barbour didn't get along and Richmond didn't really pony up the budget they promised.
I don't see us interested in Rocco right now at all. I think we need a "name" coach to get in the recruits that we are going to need at the next level. If we suck for too many years, fan interest will wane significantly. We need a good clean start to begin the FBS era. In reality, Rocco isn't that much of an upgrade over TG, (if any),based on their time at LU. He has done better since he left LU, and has more upside, but don't think the timing is right.
Hoping we get some good news soon.

HC Gill .... OC Daily
But a bad supper

I am hopeless at this time as the time to move appears to have passed unless the athletic department has a trick up it's sleeve.

This is my suspicion as well.
I have been spending a solid week getting my mind behind his philosophy again.

I want him to do well because I want the best for Liberty but it will be hard for me to get excited.

I say that now but I'm sure I'll get mkre excited as September comes closer.

Very, very, very small chance from what I am hearing. You would think that the admin would come out with a statement of support for TG if he was going to stay. I know they don't have to, but there is enough doubt concerning his future, it might be prudent for all involved. I suspect we will hear something in the next 24-48 hours.

Rocco was an idiot for believing richmond. All he had to do was look at the new stadium and facilities. Sure it was nice and new but it was obvious what they expected out of football. Rocco was like a duck out of water there. Especially when he was talking about the “academics side and how he was looking forward to that”. Cmon. Anyway DR is a mild upgrade over gill as flameshaw said. I for one wish liberty would step outside the circle a bit. I guess it might work with scott jackson and ritchie mckay but man streeter is literally the only past option with ties here that makes any level of sense.

My guess is theyve surveyed the scene and what it will take and they are on the fence about whether this year stability is better than change with how many schollies we need to add. If a change is made the new HC will be under a serious time crunch recruting wise. Even gill and company are behind. We should be at about 18 or so granted the last week or 2 has stalled.

I mean have we even heard any other names? This whole thing just felt bizarre.

My guess is that if we do not hear anything by the end of business today, no changes will be made to the coaching staff and everyone will remain .

I am thinking same thing. But I find it almost impossible to believe that things will stay the same. If they do, I see no hope for immediate future. If we can't beat St. Francis, how will we beat any of schools on 2018 schedule ?

maybe after Convo

If one conducted a poll, I believe they would find that 99% of LU Nation, thought a "change would be made". I talked with several people in Lynchburg yesterday, and all of them said change is needed.

If the 2nd part proves true that will be mind boggling.

I get why Gill stays on even if I don't necessarily like it. But some kind of change needs to happen to at least give the appearance to folks that this season was not acceptable.
