I can tell you that "that part" was not in their job description. Without getting into who said what when, Brokeback has a legitimate point and I don't think he was knocking JB at all. LU Athletics has evolved to the point where everyone involved (how's that for diplomacy?) realizes that we need a DI AD and JB fits that bill.

It's really easy to take someones word for it rather than talking with those that drew it up. (contract)

I'll add this, I have not discussed JB's contract with anyone...but it's pretty doubtful that it says in there "you have to raise money"....there are incentives like most higher up's at Liberty...and that's been the case in the past as well.

I'm not talking about JB or his contract at all. :?: I'm talking about the guys that were here before and the job description as it pertained to them. My post on the topic is based more on a conversation w/ Kim Graham on the day that Thom Park was brought in.

So I should take the word of Person X but not Person Y? Particularly if one of those is the party line? Come on, HMO. I'm knee-deep in the Red, White and Navy Blue Kool-Aid here but I still know when I'm hearing convo-ready PR. The vision is what it is and I know that different guys have to play different roles at different times but I think you're way out of line to rip into good men who spent years here -- in Kim's case, nearly his entire career -- building this place into what it is now for "not doing their job".

Eddie, you talk like a single man. Good luck in finding a woman when you have an ATTITUDE like that.

To quote Andy Griffith from an episode of the show, "women shouldn't be bothered with serious stuff. They should go back to shoppin', looking in windows, tryin' on hats...gossipn'. :)

I have never been a fan of negative displacement argumentation.... ie...

to rip Kim Graham equals supporting Jeff Barbor

to make fun of Rick Reeves equals supporting RD

to tear apart Ken Karcher equals supporting Danny Rocco

I'm all for supporting the men I mentioned, but no need to drag good men through the mud in the name of "the cause."

I think we have one on the basketball bench and a couple on the football side. Isnt that enough?? :D (XTREME sarcasm)
We do have a couple of female assistants on the women's basketball team.
Not sure about Tennis, Soccer, Volleyball, Track, Field, Golf.
At least our Senior Women's Administrator is actually a female. Laugh if you will but some schools DON"T have female SWA's. After 30 years as an athletic department it looks like we are making GREAT strides in diversity!!!

Diversity (as such) is crap when it comes to sex. The whole notion of diversity is just another way of saying we're all the same when clearly we are not. Some people and some ideas/philosophies are better than others...that's just the way it is. Want to embrace diversity...acknowledge the fact that we are different. By the way, another place women don't belong is behind the microphone. Can't recall ever hearing a good female announcer. They're always putting on an act, trying to be masculine...disgusting.

I'm speaking only of sex and not race. I also believe different cultures are blessed with different gifts. For example, the Japanese excel in math and science...etc. I believe this is the norm, but there are certainly anomalies.

I don't want to get into a big discussion on affirmative action but lets just say that the reason laws and practices like that exist is because historically the people in positions of authority were abusing that authority by only giving people chances who looked like them. If there were no abuses of power there would be no need for those sorts of laws. The fact is that it is human nature to gravitate to those whose backgrounds and interests are like your own. Minorities, particularly blacks are about 200-400 years behind the curve in terms of these types of "playing fields." I have to disagree with your somewhat un-informed remarks about Women as well. Just because they don't please you with the way they do their jobs in broadcasting doesn't mean that every single woman is not qualified to do it. What if every male or every white person were judged by the intelligence or competence of a Kevin Federline. "White Males shouldn't be allowed to perform job X because K-Fed is terrible at it." Sounds silly right? But that is how minorities and women get treated on many different things in society. Of course I simplified things to illustrate a point but the point is still sound. When you start using wide sweeping brushes to paint cultures or groups of people, I think you start to tread on thin ice.

My issue with affirmative action is this: I remember watching a news report once and some African-American reporterette really screwed up the live shot. Regrettably, one of my first thoughts was "I wonder how many competent people were passed over for that job because that station had to fulfill a quota." Now, that reporterette could have been tops in her class, highly-accomplished professional, someone who put the hours in and simply made one mistake. But because something like affirmative action, by definition, gives less-qualified people opportunities (if they were fully qualified, there wouldn't be an issue), it becomes impossible to look PAST race and gender and sexual preference.

Look at a hospital. Suppose you need surgery to save a life. I want the most qualifed person operating on me, regardless of race. Right? And when my father was put in that situation, needing quadruple bypass surgery, I'm so very thankful that the best person operated on him. The fact that that person happened to be African-American, well, didn't really matter to me.
