You’re fine. I’m just always going to be curious why people want to come to LU. Who people WANT is different than who wants to come. Hopefully you will not be discouraged and keep throwing out names!

I have seen many good names hit this thread. Too bad we are unable to pick IM's brain for his short list ....

PH , I belive the point sigmo was making is that Bud always believed that he was the coach in waiting. When they hired Fuente, it was a slap in the face of Foster. Foster may be willing to leave more now than he ever has been.

Good Suggestion Sigmo, sorry about PH being rude.

Early signing period for recruits starts some time in mid December, and we have two games left in this season. If a change is coming, it would be beneficial to make that change sooner than later so that the new staff can form a relationship with players and try and hit the ground running with early signing period.

You might see a new DC, but TG is not getting fired this year.

I wasn’t being rude to Sigmo. I even went well out of my way not to be
Bud may or may not have thought he was Coach in waiting. He may have wanted the VT job
If/when Bud wants to leave VT there will be a lot of high profile Programs that want him. Ergo my question asking why he’d want to come to LU
Just because someone throws out a name doesn’t mean it’s a good suggestion

I’m not sure you are wrong

That is a true statement, and if the reason for that support is a belief that coach Gill provides the kind of Godly leadership he wants at the helm of our highest profile program, I applaud him for it. Some seem to think it has more to do with the personal friendships between the two of them and their families. Not a good reason.

I would hope at some point JLFJR would defer to McCaw's expert judgement if and when he says a change is needed.

I trust that Ian McCaw has the reigns. You don't bring in an elite AD to get in his way. Jerry likes to be like Trump right? Trump delegates well. Let the AD do his job without interference. Ian McCaw isn't a rookie. He knows what he is doing.

Maybe there is a clause in the contract as with Butch Jones, that he is much cheaper to fire after the season.

There's no doubt that Jerry is a supporter of Turner Gill the man. I think every single one of us is a supporter of Turner Gill the man. I have heard Jerry doesn't think Head Coach Turner Gill is the guy to get us where we want to go but there have been concerns about the amount of his buyout. Depending on the contract Jeff gave him after 2014, there's likely 1-2 years left on the contract after this year. That'd be $750,000-$1.5 million for Gill alone on top of the rest of the staff. We have a lot of money, but at some point you have to be smart with that money. You can't be paying people millions to not work.

You’re assuming IM will say LU needs a new FB coach and what he thinks he can bring in is better than what they currently have.
Also Jr likes to be contrarian. The more he heard people saying he should fire Gill the more he might dig in his heels.
I’m not convinced the Gill era is over

I don't have thoughts on any of these other comments, but this is laughable. Trump second guesses and micromanages everyone via twitter... including himself.

I really don't see that at all. Trump always has surrounded himself with the best person for the job and lets them do it. It's why he has been a successful businessman. Anyone think there is a better pick for SecDef than Mattis? What about his appointment to the Supreme Court? Choosing people has always been Trump's strength.

Not assuming anything, hence the use of the word "if".
