Finding and paying a great coach will cost a lot less than the stadium expansion and will bring greater benefits and exposure. We have seen enough in 6 years to recognize we are not learning from our mistakes or getting better at in game adjustments. Time to move on.

St Francis has improved a lot more than we have in the last several years. I believe their enrollment is 2700 and their football budget is probably 20% of ours.

Streeter would be the third best option from just Clemson. Behind Brent Venerables and Tony Elliott.

Streeter has legitimate LU credentials and would fit the profile of what we want in a head coach with the lone exception of FBS head coaching experience. But frankly the success we have seen from Clemson's offense at the highest level negates much of that concern. Honestly think he gets the call to a P5 opportunity this offseason. His name is already being mentioned in early lists for several jobs that clearly will be vacant by season's end. That is a credit to Brandon. I am sitting and watching D4 here in Houston and have a hard time arguing that he wasn't exceptionally well coached by Brandon coming into the league.

As for Venables, the stink of his Stoops experience may be fading but it makes it tough for me to give an objective opinion.

Frankly I continue to cheer for Coach Gill. But I completely understand the frustration.

A lot of great ones don't.

I like Tuberville for a few reasons.

1. Big name appeal. Has coached Auburn, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Cincy.

2. Transition. Tuberville does one thing really, really well and that is recruiting. Until we're a full FBS program, I'm not too worried about the win/loss column. But it will be very, very, important that we make noise on the recruiting trail early.

He also has a lot of experience against bigger name opponents and this is why I'd prefer him to a coordinator. Streeter is good but he's never ran a team before. This will involve transitioning a program while simultaneously traveling to Auburn and hosting Syracuse....experience matters.

3. He's low risk. In 4-5 years, he'll retire. That's a positive for a number of reasons. One, if we fire Gill, we're now talking about the 2nd straight coach that's ended his tenure on bad terms. That doesn't appeal to future candidates. So, if Tuberville retires in 4 years, we will be in perfect position to hire a solid coach.

Tuberville would be a solid choice on both a spiritual and football level. Lots of experience and a proven record of recruiting. I think he would be a settling influence for recruits and the program in general.

I think age might work against TT in a search by LU. We're embarking on a new era and I suspect that leadership would like to have somebody who could potentially be in it for the long haul. But Tuberville has the cachet to be an exception.

I first knew Tuberville was a class act back in 2010 or 2011 when Tornado hit University of Alabama area. He told the Auburn team, "load up , we're going to Tuscaloosa".

I don't think his age would hurt him if he came to LU. just get "younger" coordinators.


Let's not forget Bob Stoops may need a job.
