Whaaaaaaaaaat! That's not fair! I wish we had that experience when I was in school lol

Ditto - I never knew there were live turtles in DeMoss Hall.

Awhile back, someone had asked to see a sketch of the new basketball arena. I have found an article from a few years back discussing about the mastee plan which includes some sketches at the end. The last sketch, called the east campus arena, is what was tentative as part of the whole master plan. Also what is noted in the article was Jerry Jr staring that the plan to build the arena may occur in the next five years (the last year will be in 2019). Im not sure if they will continue that plan before then, but we will just have to wait and see. Here's the link to that story :

Awesome digging!

I also notice they have Honors College above the Tower near the Hill dorms. Cider, what say ye?

Have any of you seen the drawing of the new School of Business in the Liberty Journal. It looks amazing! Honestly, I think it'll end up being more of a "landmark" academic building than the new tower. It looked that good.
Something that surprised me was that they mentioned a "student entrance " across from Demoss & a "public entrance " on the 460 side. Are they planning to reroute university Blvd???? I can't see any other way th conveniently have a second entrance.
I did notice some land surveyors working at the corner of the bridge in front of the book store last week. Maybe their moving quick on it.
Y'all heard anything else about it????

Actually you're the first that I've heard that from and it sounds fascinating. Going back to the school of business, I've read so much great things about what was involved so i cant wait to see the sketches! The facility will also involve public sessions for residents so im not shocked that it will be amazing. Im very glad that LU is really making Liberty the main school in Lynchburg and the surrounding communities. I see alot of future business and growth in that area plus more involvement of residents at Liberty events!

I believe the Honors College is a go (some of that area is fenced while being connected to the Freedom Tower project). It seems like the Hill will just be dorms for the honor students. I'm sure those dorm will be heavily renovated in the near future.

See page 45 of the new Liberty Journal for a sketch of the new School of Business building.

Right now, the second floor of Commons 2 (newest dorm) is our Honors floor. Study

Yes, University Blvd will be rerouted to parallel 460. You can see that included in the master plan on the LU construction website.

That SoB is impressive. I didn't expect anything remotely that captivating. Definitely a step towards the classic Jeffersonian rather than the modern twist much of the campus has. I really like it so far. VMDO clearly has some of the best architects in the region.

Not sure that would be an option Liberty could exercise. That's probably VDOT's call. Maybe they could request it.

That's a VDOT thing - LU doesn't own the median.

Honestly, Knowing how our construction rolls, 15 months seems like a long time for a 3 story building. Haha. I am truly impressed with the design. VMDO doing some great work!

I also believe it's a big Liberty sign from the earlier sketches. Other things may also be added with that as well.

I don't believe VMDO designed this building. Here's an article that reference another firm:

http://www.virginiabusiness.com/news/ar ... l-building

"The new Liberty School of Business building is being designed by Richmond firm **Glavé & Holmes Architecture**, known for projects such as Christopher Newport University’s Jeffersonian Christopher Newport Hall and Pope Chapel, as well as the Fredericksburg Courthouse and buildings at the University of Virginia, the University of Richmond and Washington & Lee University. It will be built by Lynchburg-based English Construction, which also built Liberty University’s Center for Medical and Health Science."

The more you know! I though VMDO was exclusively the architect for continuity reasons. That does explain the departure from the modern Jeffersonian theme.
