It would be truly awful if we have to let him go after the season. I think our team has very good talent, and more coming in next season. What happens to all of that talent if we lose Dunton? I'd say we lose half the team.

That didn't happen when Rocco replaced Karcher; in fact, bringing in a top assistant like Rocco from a a major college (UVa) and major conference like ACC resulted in us signing several D1-A transfers--look for the same thing to happen if Dunton is replaced with a top assistant from an SEC or ACC school.

As an LU supporter, and an obvious Dunton supporter, you'd hope that last night is the low point and not the game that will ultimately define this team this year.

Obviously, this team had shown some good signs early in the season, but this team has cleary not turned the corner yet and it is certainly frustrating for everyone who wants to support this team and desires them to succeed.

Last night LU came out unprepared, lacked intensity, and didn't play smart. This falls squarely on the shoulder's of the coaching staff and I'm sure that Dunton will hold himself, his coaches, and his players accountable for where this team is right now.

Gregg Marshall gave LU the proverbial kick in the rear-end last night. Winthrop is the real deal and they are playing great team basketball right now. They could very possibly end up in the sweet sixteen this year and finally reach their goals.

I may be wrong here, but I believe that how LU responds after this particular loss may very well define this group for the rest of the season.

Dunton will not put it on the coaching staff, he doesn't take the blame for anything

"You could reduce that first half to who screened better," Dunton said. "Their screening was much more physical than ours, and it created better opportunities for them. Our screening was ineffective, so it allowed their guys to stay in better defensive position."

Dunton bemoaned his team's lack of toughness, much like he did last Saturday after a loss at UNC Asheville.

"It was a lack of Anthony being on his 'A' game," Dunton said. "Jenkins brought it, and Anthony didn't respond. We were matched up, certainly, feeling like we had one of the best defensive players in the league. He just wasn't there tonight."

see....your hatred for coach D is an unhealthy level man...

anyways...I am sure there was more of those comments then what was put in the paper...you can't always get the whole story...I said this in the game thread, but Coach D has lost this team, they don't play hard and they don't even look like they care...as always in sports this will go on the coach and his contract won't be renewed and I am not saying that is the wrong approach whatsoever...but I am just as angry at these players as I am the coach...there is no reason for there lack of effort, no need for it whatsoever...they are here on scholarship to play basketball, and play hard...so it is my opinion that when a coach loses a team it is just as much the players fault as it is the coaches...but you can't get rid of all the players so the coach will be gone...and that is the way it works...

I'm sorry jm, have to agree with these guys. Your obsession of hatred for Dunton has exceeded an unhealthy level. You can be a proponent of him being canned all you want, that's your right but no need to attack him personally.

when I said everything he said felt as if it were a lie was mostly about basketball......I am not throwing stones at the guy, I am just giving an opinion....it isn't unhealthy, it is an opinion.
