1) He knows the culture
2) He can relate to the players due to his age

4) He has established recruiting ties in VA, SC, NC, GA and Fl.
5) He has a better offensive mind than the current Liberty Staff.
Sorry. I see this name and immediately think Jason Street

Street will be a head coach someday. I don't know if he's ready to make that leap yet, wants to make it yet, or how he views Liberty after their situation leaving.

Id definitely get behind a Streeter hire...I remember him slinging it for the boys at Howard's Rock and he definitely made some magic with Brock, Brandon and Mike...oh and fun fact...he was an assistant at CSU at one point

Here's another thing with a guy like Streeter:

Would we pay a first time head coach as a top ten paid FCS coach? He currently makes $375k at Clemson and is one of the lower paid position coaches there. To poach a P5 assistant will probably take at least $400k. Are we willing to do that again?

Paying a head coach 50% less than the last one? Sure

Joe Reich has been a mainstay at D2 Wingate for a long time now. Really surprised no FCS school has pushed for him, class act and runs a good program.

If he is the guy, I think he'll be a good hire. My Clemson friends rave about him.

He is a young coach, offensively minded, and recruiting coordinator for Clemson. I like what I'm seeing although we have one minor issue, Gill is still our coach.

if anything he could come in and be the OC and be in waiting if Gill falters, but the main problem is you still need an OLine upgrade or it wont matter who the coach is cuz Buckshot still wont have time to do anything, OL is completely depleted DL just as bad. One thing I remember HCTG had said was important to him and the difference between FBS n FCS was the trenches.

According to people I know inside the program, they are very happy with Barber being gone and quite confident that Gill is staying. I can't say exactly who, but they insist that the situation was that it was either Barber or Gill that was going to go and Barber going means Gill stays.

Streeter could come in with a base salary almost equal to what he currently has at Clemson, and have incentives built into the contract (i.e. Big South Champion, top ten ranking to close out the season, quarter final playoff) that would bump his salary to a higher status or equal to Gills. Plus, as an extra bonus for himself, if he is successful nationwide, for instance reaching the NCAA Championship, the college football world would notice and he could move on to a lower ranked FBS school…. It’s a win…win for both parties.

I could get excited about Streeter, but here's another name I just thought of thanks to Dirty30's post about Moglia in the Coastal postmortum thread Highly unlikely, I know, but could be fun to discuss

David Bennett

To this day there are Coastal fans who are upset about him being canned, and it is indisputable that he did a great job building that program from scratch He professes Christ and reportedly thinks Liberty is great

Great recruiter, and yes, I know his players trended toward the thuggish side, but he was recruiting to a secular school, and certainly would have a different set of criteria here One thing for sure, the media would love it!!

He is coaching HS ball in SC and Brandon Tillman played for him last year

We need more DOGS!!

David Bennett would love to coach for us, and has said so, but I have no desire for him. He's a program builder but he can't sustain it once he's built it.

What would you guys say is the percentage chance TG is the coach next season?

I think it's less than 50% but the longer we go from today, the higher the percentage rises. We are looking at something like a $1.5-2 million buyout probably. I know Jerry isn't happy with Gill and agreed with the decision to remove him, but I wouldn't be completely surprised if he decided to go into essentially a lame duck year next year to lessen the financial blow.

Or there's always the Jeff Meyer reassignment.

He's still the head Coach now. I say it's better than even odds. I don't know what the appetite is to pay another coach who actually is not coaching especially at that level of pay.

Not sure it's fair to characterize him that way as a coach based on what happened at one job In 7 years at Catawba before that they got nothing but better, and went 33-5 and made D2 playoff runs his last 3 years Those same Coastal fans I mentioned earlier would also tell you they believe he was turning things back around in 2011 (finished 7-4, although they did get blown out by LU and SB) and there is no disputing that Moglia's early success was achieved with Bennett recruits

I think it all depends on what happens this weekend. If we back into the playoffs I don't see Gill being let go until we get blown out in the first round.

But if CSU wins I don't think Gill makes it past the weekend. If he does then he won't be going anywhere for another year.

Special Assistant to the President Turner Gill
Somehow, I don't see that happening

It's interesting to hear you guys speak about coaches and characterize them solely by their past. As if one can't learn and change/adapt.

Sometimes all a coach needs is another chance.

Is that a Rocco reference? ADTG has a nice ring to it.
