We talked about this in the post-mortem thread a little bit, but let's bring it here.

We all know Brew came here so that he could play point guard, and most of us will agree him at the point isn't working out.

With that being said, what position does Brew give our team the best chance to win at?

I doubt RD would even think about breaking a promise to a player like that and movie Brew out of the point.

And that's why coaches shouldn't make promises to players (I'm not particularly picking on Dunton here, just saying in general)...from the little I've seen, and from what others have said, Brew isn't a point guard and playing him there doesn't give LU its best chance to win. Promise or not, Dunton has to do what's best for the team, and as of now, that seems to be to move Brew away from the PG position...of course, maybe doing that would cause other problems, and if that's the case, it seems like Dunton is between a rock and a hard place.

AG, I think that promise has been broken, and rightly so.

I don't think its going to happen, but this would be my starting line up

PG BJ
SG LBlair (I was going to start him at point, but I just can't see Dunton doing that ever, so I am being halfway realistic)
SF Brew
PF Hubbard (he is slightly undersized, but not in our conference)
C Alex

the reason why I say BJ at point is, the games I have see him in playing point is when I feel the offense flowed much better...now I haven't seen a game in a while, but thats how I felt...I think this line up on the floor for the majority of the minutes gives us the best shot at winning games....

Dude, Smitty starts no matter what. Put Hubbard on the bench, Smitty at the 3, and Brew at the 4.

I'm thinking but Holland or Jenkins at the point, keep Blair as the shooting guard, let McLean play the post (with Baker subbing), put Brew and Smith at the 3 or 4.

whoa SJ...I don't know how he even left my brain...you're right...put Brew at the 4 then

pbow,

I think most of us would agree that the lineup you just said it the best possible starting lineup for us right now.

Every person in that lineup besides Ace is a threat on the outside.

I am partial to J Holland at the point myself but I like the lineup of:

BJ
LB
Smitty
Porter
McLean

That is a lineup where you have 2 players looking to score and 2 players looking to get people open and get loose balls and create havoc on D in Holland and Porter. Rell doesn't have to score to be effective and neither does Holland. Liberty scores points when those guys are facilitating good offense. I would give Russ more minutes but I have always said that. RD had played him in spurts and he has given Liberty quality minutes this year. Baker wouldn't play the 5 but would share minutes at the 4 with Hubbard. BJ would play that combo guard sometimes with LB and sometimes with Justin. Brew would split minutes at the 3 with Smitty and some at the 2 sharing minutes with LB. That way you always have a Smith/Brew/LB combo on the floor.

Just my 2 cents.

What I mean in that last sentence is that you would always have 2 scorers on the floor of those 3. Also I would even think about starting J Holland or BJ at the 1.

Scar, so you would have Brew coming off the bench as our 6th man?

I'm not sure that he transferred from Providence to be a backup player in the Big South.

On my teams you check your ego at the door....Starting doesn't matter though. As long as you get minutes. The way we used to do it when I played was we put the best guys on the floor at the end of the game and we all tried to play well enough when we got our minutes so we could be in there at the end. Starting shouldn't matter. This is not corp America, it is basketball. I am the coach and I will do what is best for the team at the time. It doesn't really matter that Brew came from the Big East or some guy was a McDonalds-All American or whatever. As a coach I would do what is best for the team...We are speaking hypo thetically right? We must be if the coach is ME  I don't see me ever undertaking that endeavor again. I couldn't take the Heat at this level.

I know that Manger but for the discussion I didn't want to get into all of that. As Tony Reali would say "Inside Information." Manger what do you think about bringing Brew off the bench? I think that would be a really tough bench with he and J or BJ coming in and bringing a lot of energy. The bench has been key in all the wins so far.

Manger, the thread is a hypothetical cause none of us have any say about anything lineups wise. It's just something we'd like to see.

dwight has only played 1 once, and bj has never played the 1
