So jerry jr forced our AD to resign and is now interviewing for a job elsewhere as we speak. He was just seen entering Trump Tower.

For some reason that just rubs me the wrong way.

The timing is a little odd especially with the game tonight and playoffs still a possibility. I didn’t know him but seemed like a good fit for LU. I don’t know what to credit Jeff versus the money from the school. Lu is in a unique spot where they could hardly keep the doors open to not being able to spend it fast enough. With the money we have been spending I don’t we have seen the results. I agree with the post that the big three have been down. The money we waste is unreal. Basketball has been pretty terrible except a few years when Curry was here, football getting beat by CSU 3 years in a row with a coach that makes 1/6 of ours. However, I don’t think this had anything to do with winning/losing…..

If jerry takes that job I hope he cuts ties completely. I know he won't.

It's been 10 years since Barber was hired, and I've killed a few brain cells since then (see booze-fueled election night rant, ha). ... But from what I recall, fundraising was the big reason why Sr. wanted to hire Barber. Sure, the FBS thing was in the back of everybody's minds, but the athletics infrastructure -- and quite frankly, the on-field/court success -- wasn't there to truly entertain it. To lay that at Barber's feet is unfair. He did everything he could once that push became clear several years later, but Liberty's institutional makeup/mission severely limited where the school could go. We've had these discussions endlessly, so there's no need to rehash.

The sexual assault allegations had no role in Jeff's resignation.

I think I know but not at liberty to say.

I do think Jeff is best AD in FCS. It's a huge loss for LU.

The truth is, none of us know what the real deal is. It could have been just a difference of opinion. Maybe Jr. wanted to let Gill go and Jeff was having none of it. It's not as black and white as we make it. Barber was a great representative for Liberty and well respected, but our athletic programs have under performed to say the least.

But you do not resign, effective immediately, on a Thursday, for job performance or over a slight disagreement. Something has happened or is about to happen.

never underestimate the power of flamefa... err i mean sea of red. SOMEONE maybe multiple people who read (and sometimes post) this board know what happened and there are even more with the connections to find out. That being said, that takes time. we may not know today or next week but somehow someone will leak it to someone else who will post it on here. There is no reason to resign the night of a nationally televised ESPN rivalry game without SOMETHING going on behind the scenes. and as said before we all know what resigning effective immediately means in liberty circles.

over all i'm thankful for what Jeff did for the athletics department. I was a little critical of how the mens basketball hiring was handled but thats a different story for a different day. If Mickey stays on we will be fine. heck just hire the man already. this is his second stint as interim. the real question i have is how deep does Jr want his hands in the athletics department? are we talking going all out Al Davis or Jerry Jones? or are we talking more like a Robert Kraft type of situation. My guess is the former rather than the latter.

Something doesn't smell right and I'm not referring to the "normal" tension between the AD and administration. Having spent a lifetime as a coach the timing of this is extraordinary.

It's interesting that no one from the athletic department has even said anything about Jeff. Go to any FB or Twitter account and it's business as usual. This is so odd.

His future boss is also wildly successful beyond any measure comparatively. And he's the President. And he just b**** slapped the Bush's Clintons and Obama machines. So ..... he can say what he wants. Ha

There have been rumors going around all day about a moral failure being the reasoning for the sudden decision. I had someone reach out tonight to tell me that wasn't the case. The time was similar reasoning to LSU firing Miles. They didn't want emotions to get in the way if we won tonight and/or got an auto bid to the playoffs. Everything came down to the things we've talked about here: we're paying for coaches who aren't coaching here anymore and we are about to have to pay for Gill to not coach us anymore.

Was also told the overall athletics budget will be scaled back to a more appropriate FCS level next year. We have been operating as an FBS school and there are inefficiencies throughout the department given our current status.

But did Jeff see this coming? Just yesterday he was engaged in conversations with Jerry's Jokers about meeting up with them to discuss logistics on how they can be more involved. Someone doesn't do that if they know they are getting forced to resign soon.
