Such as I have by asking the players themselves who brought them in and why did they come, I think you will be surprised to know that some key starters are um Tomlin recruits, not just pitchers. And for that matter there has been a pitcher drafted EVERY year since Randy Tomlin has been coaching here, and How Many position players have been drafted in the last 5 years. Are you kidding what has he done, hey did you notice in the News and Advanced that Randy Tomlin was mentioned as one of Lyncburgs most influential people. Its no wonder from the previos post that he is well respected by JF, and me and the community , and here is the most important thing, the players...
Are you guys reading my post??? I'm not saying that Tomlin isn't a nice guy. This has nothing to do with what I'm saying. I was just saying that it's funny how there are 2 programs at LU, in which people on this board look make it their personel mission to rip the Head Coaches.
And yes, Coach and I hang all the time. We have sat together at 3 LU Basketball games in the past three years
Randy Tomlin, for all intents and purposes, is a great guy (except the time he gave me wrong directions on the way back from a game at Chapel Hill). He is well-respected, and a fine coach. And yet, he's been doing that for ten years, same position, day-in and day-out, you know? Maybe the Washington Nationals took notice of that -- after all, Tomlin's new role will be teaching kids approximately the same age (and overall, superior if not comparable talent) the mechanics of pitching. The Nat's needed someone that can be respected by his players, and maybe someone in the organization said "you should take a look at this guy Tomlin." (after all, isn't one of our former players a third-base coach over there?)
Tomlin, being in the same position for ten years, maybe wanted a new challenge (and more money) and opted to take it.
That scenario, while conjecture, IMHO, is far more plausible than automatically assuming that there was this massive falling out between the administration and Tomlin.
