Warner: You see the good and the bad from Calvert in one play. He is elusive and gets away from the rush and then slings it into traffic.

It's a good description of him. He's just a freshman and has huge upsides, but given what the coaches have said about him being an improv guy, it scares me that he'll be a Jay Cutler type gunslinger his entire career.

This team isn't going to be great but I am happy with how we responded after a disappointing start.

Only 23 rushing yards vs Robert Morris is very concerning. Most teams in the Big South will be better than them and we'll need to run the ball effectively to win. That's gotta get fixed.

Calvert has the talent to rack up tons of yards on short/intermediate throws and then hit the bomb over the top. He just has to play under control and follow the plan instead of going for the home run all the time. The WRs have to help him with that too.

At halftime, Paul is talking about how Calvert has done better on the roll out. It's interesting that Dailey's calling more of those tonight than we did with Masha at QB because Masha was better on the roll out as well. That's not a critique, just an observation on how the offensive is evolving.

Loved seeing Wimbo get onto him for pimping it out into the end zone.
Agree. No need for that. I like Wimbo

I'd be 100% okay with blowing up the offensive side of the staff, moving Wimbo to head coach, moving Vantz to DC, and bringing in a new offensive staff. It'll never happen, but I'd love to see what we could do with that leadership.

Jalloh with the punt block...and a penalty nullifies it

Or maybe someone of Wimbos stature as OC. Wouldn't that be 3 OC's in 3 years though?

That's the downside PH...even if it would mean getting a guy who knows a good bit about running a hurry up offense

Yes and no. If you can bring someone just to bring someone in that would be a bad thing. But if you are bringing in someone with a lot of experience running what you want to run and he can stick around for a few years you gotta pull the trigger

I think our offensive problems are deeper than just OC. I think at minimum that side of the ball needs significant changes.
