I will say that when I was in marching band, the 1 PM games meant an extra early call time for rehearsal on gameday, but at the very least it meant that after it was over I had all evening to be able to do other things (or catch some of the primetime college football action)

1PM games are horrible all around. Students don't want to wake up for them and if you're coming from more than two hours away it means an early morning. 3:30 is the perfect start time starting in mid-October. I'd say this year the game times are where they need to be.

Two or three years ago, I talked with AD about start times. He explained the 3:30 and 7:00 start times . I can't remember exactly what he said, but it made perfect sense, and I agreed with him. I like 3:30 games best, because they are over at a decent time in the evening. The 7 oclock games end too late for my liking.

Games are fun. My kids like them and I love supporting Liberty. The students should show up for at least a half - so I think we will get over.

I think we will KILL Robert Morris this year - so 1st half - 17,000, second half - 7,500.

Other predictions -
Hickson will run for over a 100 yards and will return a punt for a TD
Probert will not miss a kick and will have at least 6 opportunities
Calvert will have a OK game. Maybe 3 TDs, but 1 or 2 INT's. But you will clearly see what the hype is about.
We will win the coin toss and defer

Got this message from a friend today:
This will be the second home game I've missed under Gill. The first was against Presbyterian 2015 at home because I was mad about the back to back losses to GW and Monmouth. I am not going Saturday because I'm not going to waste the money even though I know they'll win. I NEVER missed a home game under Rocco and that is not entirely because I liked him more than Gill. It's because we've been so close for so long I'm tired of being strung along.
We've often wondered where the tipping point of coming close but not getting there would be. I wonder if we've found it?

Add to that the unfulfilled #FBSReady promise The penny isn't looking as shiny. If they go to the Playoffs you'll see a small uptick next year but LU may be 'settling in' to their attendance numbers

I'd wait until a conference loss to jump off that bridge. The logic behind your "friend's" mindset is there, but it's premature IMO. I would be there Saturday if I could, regardless of the embarrassing loss to JSU. We lose a conference game then that changes things. We can't miss the playoffs this year and expect the fan base to come out and support 2017.

I think it's less of a jumping off a bridge and more of a what's the point? If I was a local I wouldn't go to the game this weekend. It means absolutely nothing and will be a blowout. I'd be there for a conference game because that's important, but games that have no meaning on the season aren't as interesting anymore.

Potato/Pototo

If I was a local, I wouldn't go either. I'm an alumnus and therefore would go.

Also, it's a false narrative to say this Saturday doesn't mean anything. If we win every remaining game besides CSU then we should be in because of our SOS at 7-4.

If I was a local alumni I wouldn't go. We're not getting in without an auto-bid. If we lose to CSU then we have no top-25 wins. If we beat CSU, we get the auto. This week is a scrimmage against a team worse than Jacksonville.

We could debate this, but I don't feel like it.

No argument here, agree 100%.

So when I lived in Lynchburg I made sure I was at every home football game. When I left lynchburg I made sure not to make plans on game days. This season I have already made plans on 2 separate game days that will put me away from watching this team. I have a feeling I'm not alone in this. It's hard to get excited about this team.

Random thought I had the other day.

It's understandable. This team didn't have a lot of expectations coming in to the year. You have the disappointment of last years team combined with the unfulfilled FBS promises. Which is a shame because this could have been a year to nibble on some Tech and UVA fans

I agree with most of that, although since Hickson does not run back punts, I would make that a TD KO return He has been close against teams with MUCH better athletes on their coverage teams than Bobby Mo will have He is due

Stink - he's KO and the stupid rules now and kicking from midfield now - virtually make it impossible to return any kicks, but if he does get one PR - my prediction will be epic;)

The other thing about this year is people like exciting games. The Richmond game, a couple of years ago, even though we lost...it was super exciting. The Montana game was close. The games were fun to watch.

What do we have this year...Basically two blow out losses and a blow out win. Tomorrow will probably be another blow out win. I will be there but it's not the most exciting thing to watch. I blame the schedule. I've said this before. We should play 1 FBS team...and 1 non-scholarship FCS team...so we have 1 likely loss and 1 likely win. So playing VA Tech and then home for jacksonville is OK with me. But from this point on...we have about 4-5 games to fill between those two games and the conference schedule. We should look to fill them in the following order. First, we should look for games against regional scholarship FCS teams...like: richmond, william & mary, vmi, elon, furman, hampton, norfolk state. After this, we should open it up to other scholarship FCS teams that are willing to give us home and homes...Youngstown State, western carolina, other socon teams, etc. If we still have slots left...we should look to MEAC teams like Delaware St...etc. The idea is to have 1 FBS game, 1 non scholarship guaranteed win...and then 4 or 5 games against regional fcs opponents that produce close games. I'd rather avoid Jacksonville State & Montan in favor of regional FCS matchups. Just my opinion.

A schedule that goes like this: @VA TECH, Jacksonville, @Youngstown State, Hampton, Elon, and at @Norfolk State would be better...gosh...some people might actually sit in the visitors section.

Even though I know a lot of your are like...play the best. When you play the best and get crushed by the best...it hurts attendance.

After hearing some things this week, I predict that no matter how bad the attendance is, we will announce over 15,000 because Jr wants to keep the attendance numbers at FBS levels.

That's great in theory. But the only problem is that those teams will have to want to play LU.
