The good:
We won, in a blow out
Masha looks like hes the solid starter that he should be. ya'll calvert man crushes can wait your turn.
offense and Defense look WAY better than last week.
THE BAD
we played a school that just came off suspension for scholarship finagling and plays in a non scholly league.
The attendance
The announcing. I'm sorry. I just can't handle it anymore. Paging a certain radio professional who is over qualified for his position already working side jobs for 2 count them 2 pro teams in two different sports. K i'm done.

The Good:

1. The three headed monster @ Running Back!

2. The tackling again and the defense as a whole

3. Masha's composure and complete turn-a-round performance.

The Bad:

1. The Announcers

2. The Announcers

3. As good as the defense played their were moments of being out of position or getting caught being lazy(just a few times.)

The Good

1) Running Backs
All three guys combined for 307 yards and 4 TDs on 47 carries. It was just Jacksonville, but that's impressive.

2) Masha
I wasn't concerned with his stats this week. I wanted to see how he looked. He had better touch tonight on his deep balls than Woodrum ever had. He didn't run much so we can't tell how much of a weapon that is. Overall he looked like a very solid Big South quarterback. Hopefully he can continue to evolve into an all league quarterback.

3) The offense
I said last week if we were to have success with Masha as our quarterback, we'd have to go to a read-option/screen heavy offense. This week that's what we saw. That's what I was hoping from Dailey's when it was announced he was taking over the offense. It also simplifies the offense for the offensive line which isn't the most experienced.

The Bad

1) The suspensions
We had four guys out for the entire game and it sounded like Parker was held out for the first half. That's not good.

2) Injuries
Chris Turner ended the night in a sling. Aharown Campbell went down and had ice on something by the end of the game. Those are two guys we can't afford to lose.

3) Calvert
It seems weird to put him here considering he went 7-10 for 69 yards. However, with all his hype, I thought the throws he took downfield didn't look nearly as good as the hype said they should. Masha looked better on those throws tonight. I'm not saying Calvert isn't any good, but with great hype comes great expectations. I still contend he hasn't fully gotten comfortable with the speed of the game. He'll get there, but he's still a true freshman.

The Good
1. The offense. We executed the offense. It was against an overmatched defense, but we did what our offense is designed to do.
2. Masha. He still does not carry out his fakes on the zone read plays though. I could not be happier with his overall performance.
3. The defense is legit. Brandon Tilllmon is going to be a player. He sure does tackle high though.

The Bad
1. The level of competition. I'm sure they will get better, but they were not very good.
2. Attendance was a little disappointing.
3. SMU will not be on T.V.

Good
Frankie Hickson. The coaching staff needs to design some plays to specifically get the ball to him in space.

We have another great leg. I think he will end up being more dependable than Lunsford inside the 40.

Defense & offense (edit) sorry forgot special teams.

Bad

Allowing a score
Only scoring 55 points.
Freshman QB is still a freshman QB.

Good

1. We won.
2. The running game
3. Big Masha turn around

Bad

1. The announcing. I know others have said it but it is just down right awful

2. Attendance

3. Defense. I know I praised them earlier tonight in the game thread but they allowed how awful JU was on offense to lull them to sleep. That can not happen against better competition. I don't see why it would but in kind of stretching here. Haha

I'm critical at times because I have really high expectations for our program. However, sometimes I have to step back and remember how good we have it. We are all disappointed with over 16,000 people at our home opener.

Coastal had their 5th highest attended game ever tonight: 10,037.

I can see that. Plus having the Battle of Bristol probably sucked some fans away. We were at a local furniture establishment buying a ridiculously overpriced sleeping system and saw several LU clad folks walking around outside. One couple was talking about how they left after the 1st quarter bc it was a blow out.
There really ISNT a lot of buzz around the program this year. Although they run a pant load of commercials

good -
1) Masha proved me wrong tonight. Played very well and made good passes all night, especially long passes.
2) Play Calling. I know it was JU, who really looked bad, but It was nice to see some long balls and some screens.
3) Running Game - Hickson is good, but Mosley and Macon make a pretty good trio.

bad -
1) People complaining about attendance. It was fine. Wasn't hyped very much. I think we will set records in two weeks.
2) In-Game Announcer. He was cheezy, messed up a bunch and just sounded bad.
3) The black sheets behind the coaches. There has to be a better way? I felt bad for 18 - what a job - "Hey Mom - I made it to d-1 football - I get to hold a sheet behind the coaches on every offensive play."

The more I look at the attendance the less disappointed I am. We opened lower than tonight in 2011, 2012, and 2014. Those years were all in the +15k range. The other three years (2010, 2013, 2015) we opened the season at over 18k. This year was an average opening which actually fits where we are. We should be 18+ vs Jax St and CSU. The others will be around tonight.

The Good:

1. Stephon Masha- Considering I said he looked like he had not started in two years last week, he looked like he had been starting for two years this week. Yeah it was against a vastly overmatched squad in Jacksonville but he was hitting his throws a lot better
2. The running game in general- Macon and Hickson with over 100 yards and Mosley with only 87 but the last couple games he has performed like somebody who would be a very solid #2 if he had played like this his first couple years
3. Damian King- Made another mistake on Masha's one interception but at least he didn't jack up one of his returns this week

The Bad
1. Damian King- See above
2. Defensive front- For as well as they played last week, they really got no penetration with no sacks and only 1.5 TFL from the entire unit
3. Offense- Couldn't they have scored touchdowns on ALL their possessions? lol

Good. Offense.defense.special teams.
Bad. Announcer. Attendance. Defense on drive JU scored on.
Attendance was my biggest bad. I expect 20,000 every game. We need to do better job marketing within 50 mile radius of Lynchburg. I talk to a lot of people who never know when we play at home. Give free tickets to church groups. I think it's been done in past. Not know if now.
Jax State game could set new record. In reality Jax State may be best team ever to visit Williams Stadium.

Free tickets are fools gold. It also cheapens the product for those who pay
