technically, if the flag and anthem represent America and America is no longer great, i feel like more of the people who are angered by this should be actually applauding it.

what i'm saying is the people freaking out about this blatant display of anti-america are the people mostly likely to be wearing "make america great again" hats. like our service men need to see a presidential candidate who's basically said all they'd fought for these past years was a 2nd rate country in need of a massive overhaul! think of the troops!!!

I saw someone mention this earlier today. It's the truest statement of this whole thing.

I'm fine with him doing what he is doing and I don't belive the NFL should punish him in any way but I don't get why the Cowboys aren't allowed to express support for the cops killed in Dallas. Makes zero sense to me.

I'll go side bar on this. When people my age see or hear that slogan we think back to a specific point in time. A period of time that had issues but saw America climb out of a hole and become a dominant force again. We don't look at the warts ( no one does when they look back nostalgically). THAT is the sentiment the slogan looks to evoke. And it's done a great job

Carry on

One could argue that people older than you see that slogan and remember the good old days of segregation and Jim Crow.

I was open minded about his protest. Then he wore that Castro shirt? At that point he left me scratching my head. I don't think Casro would allow government protest by Cuban athletes.

People showing support for Klappernick shows how far America has fallen. This guy blatantly disrespected our national anthem and some think he did nothing wrong.

Throwing him in jail for what he did is what a tyrant (great show on FX btw) would do. Was it Voltaire who said 'I may disagree with what you say but I will fight to the death for your right to say it'? I'm down with that.
What he did was disrespectful. But the man is trying to keep his lady happy and we all do crazy things in that pursuit

That's because he didn't do anything wrong. You can disagree with what he did, but you can't say it was wrong.

I completely disagree with what he is doing but he has a right to do it and shouldn't be thrown in jail. We are the United States of America. We are suppose to be different. I am proud to serve in the military for a country that embraces true freedom. You should be proud of that too. You can do so without agreeing with the man or his methods.

But you're not saying there may or may not be a drone malfunction?!? :)

Agree 100% I will say I actually pity him now knowing he's most likely doing it so he can keep getting laid

I was stunned on Saturday in Dallas (drove up from Houston; child is a student at LU, I make frequent trips to campus and will be as JSU game this Saturday)) to see two players' families - wearing shirts with their players' number on it - continuing to walk down the aisle and make their way across the row while the Anthem was being played.

Some members were moving the entire time. Others that got to their spot but didn't necessarily stop and pay respect.

I guess I expected better.

And as an announcer at sporting events, I was impressed with the way that the SMU public address announcer handled to try and mitigate some CK-like actions.

i can get behind kids in HS making a protest waaayyy more so than i can a millionaire half white kid who's grown up with all the white privilege he can handle making a protest because his gf told him to. i'm not saying he doesn't get a say, i'm just saying that it falls flat. because the only discussion he's brought to the table has been regarding himself ultimately whether that was his intent or not.

but nobody kids in hs who actually live in crime riddled areas and see it first hand, i'll get behind. put yourself in their shoes. the America they are growing up in does kind of suck. There are plenty of success stories sure but ultimately your are screwed out of the gate in many ghetto african american neighborhoods. Its hard to blindly support something that represents it. sure there are worse places but those places shouldn't be the measuring stick with which we judge this unique nation.

What does "half white" have to do with it?

I'd rather people protest the way CK is then people throwing crap at police cars like what is going on in Charlotte.

I still don't get the outrage over CK. Oh well.

What he's saying is only people who have actually experienced the hardship are qualified to protest against it. He used a lot of other words but that's what it boils down to.

Things will continue to be bad in many communites across America, until we get a government that will be tough on crime, bring jobs back from overseas, stop importing criminals and terrorists from other countries. America has gone soft all across the nation. The #1 cause of it is Liberals and Satan. America has too many "sissies" these days. I am old enough to remember when women were tougher than many men are now.

things will be bad until we not only empasize with our words the importance of education but we show that its important and invest in the youth of these communities. knowing full well that it will take a long time to fix it and some of that will be "wasted". the promotion of a nuclear family(fathers) and good local jobs, and you'll begin to make progress. I don't know about all that other stuff you were talking about. much of it seems to not have much to do with the discussion at hand.
