This is a total shock. Brandon Tillmon is wondering what this means for him after football. The news is that he resigned and the entire baseball staff was let go? Was he ask to resigned? Anyone have any insight on this situation? Thanks

come on bruh, you know the line your (he's) gonna get. He chose the school not the coach. But now there is a new coach who possibly knows NOTHING about the kid, or how he perceives the kid, but somehow it will be the kids fault, smh.

Forbidden you are correct but it also played a factor and made his decision easy. When you grew up around someone that is family, your comfortable. Toman called him and went by to visit him at the weight room at Liberty before football workouts to apologized to him for not being able to coach him and watch him grow. He also called his Brandon's father. That tells you how much Brandon means to him. I am sure Coach Gill will talk with the new coach once he is hired. I know Brandon will adjust and be fine.

Hate to tell you this, or make it sound so harsh but does he really have a choice? No. They have him signed now and he has to make the best of it, because god only knows what would happen next

I don't wear a G-string first off so if you're going to make that reference at least use the correct form of undergarment...and he is acting like this is some sort of "gotcha" moment in play here...now look, we don't know who the new baseball coach is going to be. We know Gill was on board with him playing both already so he isn't going to be an issue. As I said, it will be up to the new coach to sign onto him being a two sport athlete, but if he and his dad and HCTG go to him and explain the situation calmly and with civility, Im sure that they can work something out that is a win for all parties involved, and not make it look like a "too bad so sad" situation...to reduce it down to the level forbidden did in his comments is why I said "smh"

The fact that he liked Toman and Toman left is the situation. There is nothing her can do about it now. So he has to make the best of it. So again, don't get your Depends bunched up

BJ,

To be college educated you sometimes sure don't act like it. "Bruh" reading is fundamental, look at what I said, I NEVER once said there was anything in play here. I stated that regardless of the situation regarding Toman, he didn't and doesn't stand a chance here. Let's be real they rolled out the red carpet for this kid do you really think they are going to let him out of his commitment because the Baseball coach resigned. NO, they are going to hold him to that commitment or make it very tough for him if he wanted to leave. This new coach whomever it may be KNOWS very little to NOTHING about BT, because as was mentioned the WHOLE staff is gone as well, read into that what you want, but this new guy will have to take a gamble on "halving" the scholarship or however they work it out, and what if he DOESN'T want to do that, then where does that leave BT. HE came HERE to your precious LU MAINLY because of the opportunity to play both sports, don't get it twisted and forget otherwise. But you I am sure if you have read and comprehended what you read that in many a story, the coach leaves the kid wants to transfer, and the school makes your life a living hell and block this or that or mandate where you can and can't go, all because they feel like they are now jilted. Now that opportunity doesn't exist at the present he has to now "focus" on football and wonder if that opportunity will come. PERIOD. You say they should all 3 calmly walk into the BB coach office and basically have to beg for a spot on the team, I am sure the kids talent level will speak for itself, but you NEVER once said what if the other coach doesn't want two sport guys, did you EVER even fathom that thought. He says No, what then BJ, huh what? Would he be a "play" then, or does BT not really have much of an option, and like I said I've seen and heard stories about that "we will let you transfer to another school" thing goes. So in a way it actually is a "too bad so sad" sort of situation.

FYI, yes I still coach if you want to know. So if you don't wear a G-string and I think you may be a little young for the Depends, maybe pull them tighty whiteys down from up near your nostrils and relax and breathe a bit

Personally I hope both BT and the new coach give each other a chance and I think they will. The kid appears to be too great a talent NOT to from the coaching perspective. I can see the player feeling jilted and it is true that at this point he is sorta stuck. Why transfer and lose a year? But let's hope all parties end up being as happy if not happier with the arrangement than they were before. Long term I think this will be a better situation for him. But its early in the day and I have been beaten down by difficult customers yet :)

It's called life and change. Things happen. What's the chances that if you play both sports both coaches are gonna be there all 4 or 5 years. Not very likely. Just look at the state schools. Tech has turned over all 3 coaches in the last 2 years, Uva has football. It is what is is unfortunately.

Forbidden, has no dog in this fight, that fight has yet to be fought, I was only saying that the kid sort of has to stick it out unless he want to lose a year.

I agree. And I think it will turn out ok. But I've had a good day so far and I'm still optimistic

That's what happens when you play collegiate athletics. It was his choice to be a dual sport athlete.

Guys,

I agree with what you are guys are saying. It was just a tough situation for a young man, 4 hours from home to see this happen. I talked with Brandon's dad and Brandon is fine. The coaches have already talked to him and the situation will take care of itself once the new coach is hired. Brandon loves being at Liberty and doesn't want to go anywhere else. The players have the rest of the weekend off plus Monday and he is staying in Lynchburg when a lot of the players are leaving to go home or to other player's homes. That tells me he does love it. VA Golf, I hope you were kidding when you said the kid chose to be a dual sport athlete. That is the problem with kids today. They focus on one sport when they should play multiple because each sports specializes in something that makes you better in the other sports. Maybe you or some parents have enough money to say son, don't worry about that full scholarship in football, play baseball and get 20%, we will pay the rest, we don't want you to get hurt. The bad thing about that is, a lot of parents tell their kids that I hear it straight from the parents! That is the dumbest thing I ever heard. Playing all 3 sports since he could play has made him into the athlete his is today. He loves the weight room. A lot of baseball players don't find the key to weight room until they get to college. I am not going to go on about this anymore because I hope you were just messing around with that comment but if your not, you need help. I will make sure I tell my football players on Monday not to chose to be a dual sport athlete, it can hurt them at the next level!!!

I don't want to be a jerk, but maybe it's not best to air the emotions of an 18-year-old kid after the coach who recruited him is fired on a public message board.

First off, there's absolutely nothing for Brandon to gain by you posting his alleged feelings toward the program. Nothing. If you actually had that conversation with his dad, this message board is the last possible place to broadcast that information. Seriously, that puts Brandon in a vulnerable position.

Secondly, I was not kidding with my comment. Understand that I don't care about your moral views. If you think there's moral benefits to kids playing dual sports, than that's your prerogative. My comment is in reference to the consequences of being a dual sport athlete. The probability that the same two coaches who were at the school when you committed, are still there when you graduate, is remarkably low.

Additionally, understand that division one coaches, at a program like Liberty, have about two and half years to turn a program around. If they can't perform, they get fired, asked to resign...whatever. If I'm a coach and I feel like one of my scholarships is being used on an athlete that is more dedicated to one sport than the sport I'm coaching, I don't have a desire to play him. Sorry if that hurts but that's the truth. A coach has a family to worry about, no one wants to uproot their family every 2.5 years.

All I'm saying is that there are built in consequences for being a dual sport athlete. You don't have to like them, you don't have to agree that those consequences are fair to the athlete...but understand that they exist. Understand that when an athlete attempts to be a dual sport athlete, they get what they sign up for. Sorry. Brandon signed up to be a dual sport athlete, this is a potential consequence that I'm sure he knew existed when he made the decision.

Your right, you don't have to like my moral views but if you would have said what you said in your last paragraph the first time instead of "it's his choice to be a dual sport athlete" like it is a bad thing, then I have no problem at all with the statement. He is there to play football first. If baseball works out, that is even better. I am sure he knows the consequences and those things were discussed during his visits and before he committed. There is no bad feelings toward any program and the kid loves being at Liberty.

Glad to hear he's still glad to be at :U even if he is disappointed in the baseball coaching situation. Hopefully we land a coach that will re-energize our baseball guys.
