The criteria I used is personal observation. I am certain I ave seen every LU QB since the first one Dean Phillips, in 1973.
Chiles only played 2 years because he transferred from U of Florida, with just 2 years of eligibility left, as I recall.
If he had the talent around him, that we have had in the last 5-6 years, we would have had better results, (in my opinion). Had the best arm I have ever seen at LU, was mobile and was very difficult to bring down, inside or outside the pocket, smart and a team player.

One little bit of trivia about our new recruit - "Buckshot" is his real middle name, not a nickname. His father wanted to give him a memorable name, and it was also the nickname of his favorite NASCAR driver, Roy "Buckshot" Jones.

Hate to tell you if one of the two rookies comes in and lights it up, then those microphones will be in there faces again. We all know its great when the team wins, but how will they handle the flack when the team loses. Or will this be when HCTG and co. pulls the they can't talk to the media card.

The QB is the face of your franchise/program though. Now I would rather they maybe enlist someone to help with working with reporters and not making a total *** of themselves when a Mic is put in front of them

I'm fine having a press conference with the coach and maybe a couple players after the game to discuss the game, but a pregame press conference is typically done by the coach only. LU is the only team I know where the QB has equal time with the press at the pregame. I think that elevates the player to a coaches level and that can put a lot of undue pressure on the QB and that's why we heard a lot of "my team" rhetoric.

A lot of coaches don't let any Freshmen talk to media. I've expressed my feeling in the past that I also don't believe being the starting QB should automatically make you team spokesman, especially when you have shown obvious symptems of foot-in-mouth disease on multiple occasions.

Most colleges bring a select group of players (usually 2-3) to their weekly newser. It seems most coaches now follow the mantra of no freshmen on those days regardless of position. Postgame news conferences are a different story. It is tough to justify not bringing your QB to answers questions.

I agree to an extent but as I said before, the starting QB is oftentimes the "face of the franchise (or program at the college level)" and reporters are naturally going to gravitate towards them for commentary after a game.

Buckshot is apparently flying up for the Spring game. Could be his official visit because I don't think he ever made one before signing. You think they might let him show his arm off a little in the sidelines?

Coach is right...if anything it'll be more to meet with the coaches, maybe a few photo ops for his social media and connecting with his teammates for 2016. Why risk injury before he even gets to put on a jersey for us

He is a QB. Does anyone think he is sitting around with his arm packed in ice back home tíl he reports for summer workouts? Of course not. He is throwing passes to whoever he can get to catch them. By "show off" I'm not suggesting he should try winging it 70 yards, but a few post throws or a deep sideline or 2 would give his teammates (including the other QBs) and the fans a glimpse of what he will be bringing to the table.

Im not expecting him to be winging it all over the field either...Im just saying that he is probably going to be meeting with people most of the time he is in town and not really doing much in a public sense as far as on the field stuff is concerned.

I'm pretty sure he won't have any meetings scheduled from 4-6 PM tomorrow.

Probably not...but if he throws any itll probably be on the sideline and maybe a few throws for fun before or after the festivities are over...but that's just my speculation on the matter

Yeah, he pretty much nailed it on the outfit and the car IMHO, and the Twitterverse seems to be in virtually unanimous agreement. Now, if someone can just hook him up with a barber, his mom can have her mixing bowl back

That scares me a bit. If I were him I would delete twitter... He looks pretty small next to his dad, and doesn't look like a leader I would want to follow. Just being honest.

You aren't an 18-22 year old football player. In fact, I thought for a second there ballcoach may have hacked into your account, but I read what you typed out loud and didn't sound like Tarzan, so I guess not.

Did you look at the response he got on Twitter? His teammates and classmates obviously love him. ZERO "shade". Yes, he needs to put on some muscle, but there is no reason for him to try to somehow hide that.by not being on social media. If you are worried if he can play and lead a team, look at some of his game video. Cannon arm and tons of swagger.

Qft...if you are worried about him after one picture (that in the pantheon of social media nonsense isn't all that bad), as Colin Cowherd would say, "that's a you problem". I've said this before but get Kill Bill working with him and he is going to be a very different looking guy come registration day for fall training camp
