Masha’s passing ability certainly took a giant step in the spring and he showcased that in Liberty’s spring game Saturday at Williams Stadium. He completed 12 of 17 passes for 126 yards and threw a 20-yard touchdown
Not So Fast My Friend.

I went to a "closed " practice last year at Patrick Henry Highschool, and I watched Masha pass for very similar stats (pretty sure I posted them on here somewhere). We wont be able to tell if his "passing ability certainly took a giant step", until a few games into the season.

I think Masha can be a great FCS quarterback, and win us lots of games, but Im not so sure he will do that as an accurate passer.

Nice rundown on the safeties, guys. I have a hard time seeing Alpha on the sideline much this fall. In nickel & dime packages he has to be on the field.

McGinty has a good look to him... his size/build look perfect for the spot he's going to be playing in. Rion Davis looks like he could be a freak athlete. If he works hard and stays healthy it looks like he could really be something 1 - 2 yrs from now.

I like what I'm seeing from Davis. He certainly could catch some scouts' attention if he plays up to his spring performance in the fall

We're going to need a bunch of the front seven to step up. Thankfully we have a bunch fo Texans prepared to get things done. Nice summaries, Jon.

Great write-up. It seems to me we are pretty small, weight-wise, on the ends. We don't have a lot of depth at DT either behind Greene. That worries me a bit...

The way I look at it, we could have a lot of speed on the ends and a lot of power in the middle, opening the way for LBs to come up and make plays as well. I do agree that we need a lot of depth at DT. When our #1 is 310 and #2 is 240, that's a bit of a concern. You will need some big hole fillers in the middle to force the action to the ends and LBs on the outside.

Like I said in my own breakdown, it will depend on our philosophy who gets more carries between Daniels and Hickson. The latter looks like he could be another "thunder" back for us while Daniels is a speed, get on the edge, maybe burst through the hole, one cut and accelerate to the second and third level kind of back a la Abnar as was mentioned.

He does look like he has ripped up some olldflame...

I said it before and it bears repeating...this job is Masha's come that first Saturday in Lane Stadium barring two things: 1) an injury or 2) Calvert channeling some of the great University of Miami QBs of the past and blowing Gill and the other coaches away so much over Masha and the other QBs that Gill changes course and names him the starter.

I agree that Calvert (on video) shows a lot of promise and a big time arm. Even if he impresses in the summer I'm not sure Blacksburg would be the best place for him to start.
