Is that just this year specifically or every year?

Well that's exactly what you now have in the NIT.

I'll probably end up cheering for the Ducks. I know they are a #1 seed, but Alabama came close to beating them, and I used to really like watching them when I was a kid because they seemed to always be a late game after my parents went to bed. So I'd watch their Football teams with Reuben Sierra, Joey Harrington, etc.

Was hoping Baylor would do better, but i I digress.

Truth be known, with college softball and baseball picking up steam, I could care less about basketball. If LU or Virginia Tech were still playing I would probably feel a little different.

If Villanova, a Catholic school with 10,000 students, can make it to the Elite Eight, why not LU--in a few years?

The same reason why Liberty won't be on the same level as Notre Dame football in a few years.

There are probably more Catholics at LU then there are at Villanova.

COMPLETELY different situations. I'm not saying that Liberty WILL be there, but I am saying that Liberty CAN be there. All the upsets in this year's bracket proves that point. (It also proves why basketball & football are different beasts, and why basketball should have a much SMALLER field with multiple game sets... but I digress).

Reduce it but only by getting rid of all the play ins. You are the only person I've ever heard that doesn't think it'sabsolutely perfect. Multiple game sets? That's what makes the NBA playoffs suck.

+1 Yeah I've never thought of the NCAA tournament as trying to determine the absolute best team in the nation. It is different than that. A tournament to see who can win it. The best teams have definite advantages with the format but anybody can win it all.

One thing about basketball is the way it's set up now, every team in country has opportunity to win championship. Just find a way into tourney and go on a streak. Unlike football where if you lost one game, your chances are greatly decreased and if you lose 2 games, you're done.

Which is why the regular season in College Football means so much more than the regular season in College Basketball. I love the tournament and how it is set up now from a pure entertainment standpoint but it doesn't really determine the best team.
