Jeff Barber should get AD of the Year Award for making a coaching change with men's basketball.

It certainly is looking like a great hire, but IMHO he still has some work to do to make up for the extensión he gave Layer.

I have to admit this turnaround is happening much quicker than I thought. But I was very lonely in Ritchie's camp after his departure to UVa.

He is doing great so far with a brand new roster that is very young. Cant wait for the 2016 recruits to get in the fold with their size, along with the development of current players. 2 years and were going to be making some very loud noise as a mid major. If we beat the predestined and then beat winthrop, call me very very very impressed. By the way, we won 3 in a row, that's called a winning streak. woohoo

It was just a month or so ago that we were listed dead last in all of Division I by some rankings I just checked Ken Pomeroy's rankings and there are now about sixty schools behind us. Let that sink in for a minute. Granted there is still plenty of room for improvement. But what Ritchie is doing right now is amazing.

Richie has this snowball packed just right and I think the Coastal win have us a push down the mountain. We are building size and speed with each game. This could be huge heading into next year regardless of how this year ends

As excited as I am to see growth this early on in the rebuild it is still a big undertaking and will still take a ton of time to get where we want to be.

It is just nice to see actual growth and not regression.

I remember gettin bashed too but I saw something in this group and RMK. I wish we could have had this whole unit playing like this from the beginning of the season but its good to see things starting to work out. If RMK and the guys keep this up COY next year isnt an impossible feat.

Yes, this. For what it's worth, there would have been some backlash for not extending the contract of a coach who just took you to the national tournament. I would have supported a decision to cut ties with Layer immediately following said season, however, that decision at the time was not so cut and dry with the fan base. So, I also understand why he gave Layer the extension.

I do think JB deserves a bunch of credit for bringing back a coach that many fans resented. Looking back, it was obviously the right call and he made it without much hesitation.

This team is performing really well right now and is positioned well for the next few seasons. RMK is doing an amazing job.

Yes, there would have been. People jumped to Layer's defense at the very mention of a drop in his job security.
