The team is on a current 5 game losing streak and its our shooting to point the finger at.

The guys on the outside Cabbil, Kemrite and AC are shooting an abysmal 29% (38 for 130) from the field and 25% (22-87) from 3 point land. Those shot numbers aren't going to beat many Division I teams, there are some division 2 and 3 schools that could give us a run.

Evan Maxwell the teams lone bright spot is shooting 71% from the field but only has 2 games with more than 10 Field goal attempts, he needs more shots... Not saying he would continue to shoot 71% with an upped number of touches but I'd much rather find out.

Kemrite and Reid (until his last 20 point game) have been playing 30 mpg and been a virtual no show in the last 5 games.

The team will be exciting in the future but it needs leadership and Evan Maxwell to get at least another 5-8 shots up a night.
2 games left until, Dawson is in the lineup for the Princeton game...

Getting shots for a post player is easier said than done. CSU doubled Maxwell every time he touched the ball, and he turned it over 6 times. He has been terriffic this year, but you have to keep in mind that this guy has never had to deal with that before. Our coaches need to work with him to anticipate the double team and find the open man sooner . Once he can do that, he will be an even bigger weapon for us.

This season is what it is. We've actually done far better than I thought we would be doing. Give the coaches some time to make adjustments. We've got an entire season to play with.

I felt there was a definite effort by all the perimeter players to get the ball in to Maxwell last game. No doubt on direction coming from the bench. Props to CSU for doubling every time. The game plan usually doubled off of Reid early on and he made them pay. Then they started doubling off the pg in the 2nd half which shut down Reid who shot all contested shots in the 2nd half. Our point guards have not shown the ability or willingness to shoot the 3 so far this season so they are likely to continue to see this. One big reason I think Cabbil or Dawson will end up getting a lot of minutes at the pg in conference play.

Many of the players have been pretty one dimensional early on this season which is typical of a young team. It also why guys are struggling or become a "virtual no show" as Flamerz put it. Scouting reports have taken Kemrite and others off the 3 point line or making their attempts contested. As the players develop, hopefully some of this will improve. It may just be that these players are limited and it may be tough on the offensive end until new players arrive.

Evan did struggle with the turnovers against the double and it limited his shots but he found ways to get touches especially his activity on the offensive glass. No doubt he will get better handling the double team and the other players will learn to cut/move better to give him passing options. Like jbock13 said, lets watch the adjustments and development throughout the season. There is absolutely no question that they are PTM - playing through maxwell and will continue to do so this season.

I think its clear that we aren't the ones coming up with the game plan to play thru BigEvan. When is the last time we saw a post player have this many teammates dedicated to get him the ball. Guarantee other teams will see the TO problems we had when the post is doubled. Id be surprised if it hasn't already been discussed. In all fairness, that is a tough switch to make in the middle of a game. Something that will be executed much better after a day to watch film and put pressure releases in place.

Maxwell will adjust and get the ball back out on the perimeter when he feels the double team or to the cutter to the basket but we still have to make the shots. I also wold like to see at least one person attacking the offensive boards after a shot. It seems we are to willing to concede the rebound to get back on D. I'm assuming that is the game plan.
