I got iTunes earlier, now I'm having to go through and make sure all of the album titles are right. I'm anal about how I organize my music.

I can't get my videos into the library on iTunes. I have a few movies I want to put on my iPod but I can't even get them to the library.

im not too sure how to put videos onto ipod, although i have the video i dont use it much. my sister just got the 80 gig and im pretty mad that i bought my 30 like 2 months before they came out with the new ones because the 80 gig is basically as thin as my 30. The one complaint i have about my ipod is i have a 60 song mix i listen to on shuffle while im working nights and even though its on shuffle it will still play like 5 songs from the same album in perfect order everyonce in a while.

okay I solved one problem and this may be beneficial to some of you. As I said before I have two computers with Ipod library's, but I want to keep my songs on the ipod without losing them when I plug into the new computer. While I can't copy all the songs off my ipod onto the new computer (at least the ones that don't have itunes licenses) I did figure out how to keep the songs I have on my ipod and still download new music to the ipod from my new computer.

Here's the link which explains it better than I could. I only purchased one song, because itunes doesn't seem to be functioning at this time (i guess everyone is using it right now, what with Christmas and everyone probably at home with itunes gift cards and such).

The main thing is, you have to manually manage your music and take it off auto synch mode.

So long. I hope itunes starts working. I just got the tape deck attachments so I can play the thing in my car. Going to try it out in a few.

What type of transmitter should I buy? TDDance said the iTrip sucked, and I don't have a ton of money but I want something that I can listen to with my cd player. I don't have a tape deck.

SJ, I highly recommend looking into an adapter for your stereo, or buying a stereo with an auxiliary input (you can get them for relatively cheap now). From what I've seen and heard, FM transmitters don't come close. A tape adapter would be a better option. Wired is the way to go, unless you want to go bluetooth, but that's really pricey.

The direct hardwire for my cd player is so ungodly inconvenient that it's worse than the transmitter.

Unless your system is so unbelievably awesome that replacing it is not an option, I'd say get yourself a head with an aux input. Otherwise, someone else here probably knows more about the various FM transmitters than I do. I'll let them field that one.

My cd player only cost $325 before installation. Plus I don't plan to have that car too much longer and don't want to put any money into it that I don't have to.

the one that i have is DLC i think it is? its at wal mart and best buy for alot cheaper than when i bought it, i think its down to 60 or 70 and it works perfect. I would rather have the tape deck but scions dont come with those unfortunatly, and when i ordered my scion i apparently forgot to get the aux jack with it, but turns out its not that bad because my friend did get that and the jack is in the handle of the emergency break which seems inconvenient to me

You might try Crutchfield first. Odds are you could find a unit in the $200-250 range with an input, plus you'd get the installation instructions, wiring harness and mounting hardware for free. Installation should be easy with all that, you could probably take the unit with you to the next car, and because Crutchfield is in Charlottesville, you could most likely pick it up. Just a thought.

Crutchfield is the way to go. i've bought about 5 cd players and 4 sets of speakers from them over the years, and they completely explain how to install everything yourself.
Jon, go to this website to see crutchfields cd players with inputs.

Like I said, I'm not putting anymore money into my car that I have right now. I bought a Belkin version of the iTrip for $21 and it's worked fine so far. When I get a new car, then I might get the good stuff.

SJ, to address your video question (I don't think anyone has yet, although I may have overlooked it), the videos must be in a format that iTunes supports. As far as I know, the only format iTunes allows is .m4v (someone correct me if I'm wrong). There are programs out there that will help you convert other formats (.mpg, .avi, etc.) into iPod format, however I don't know what those programs are for Windows. A quick Google search using keywords like converter, ipod, video and mpg might turn up some results. Just beware of spyware.

I found that out yesterday. I haven't been able to find a decent program yet that either doesn't put a watermark on theirs or one that I can find the serial number for it.

I hate FM transmitters. I use one with a portable DVD player and I always get this horrible interferance from the engine of the car. It's goes up and down in pitch in correpondance with the engine RPM. You get used to it if you're cruising at a constant RPM but if you're in stop and go traffic, you'll want to die.

I used a $15 FM transmitter from Best Buy (back in the Discman section, in the way back), and it worked fine with my nano during my Christmas travel. You're never going to get the best sound from those, but when you don't have a tape deck or a USB port in your stereo, it's really the only option. $15, best buy.

I got an iTrip for Christmas, and absolutely love it. Have had no problems at all with sound quality or anything.

I had an original iTrip. It stopped working. My wife had the iTrip mini, and it worked fine for her until it was no longer necessary. If you have the cassette adapter option, it's better. If you have a 1/8" audio input, that's even better. The ideal situation is to connect to your stereo using the dock connector, however.

Why? Audio to the 1/8" mini-jack (aka, the headphone jack) is output through a 10 watt digital amplifier before it hits the jack. This introduces some distortion into the signal, and it gets worse as the volume control goes up. Most of the FM adapters require you to run the volume about 3/4 of the way up. Cassette adapters need at least half volume to really make the most of the signal. The dock connect, however, outputs an un-amplified digital audio signal. It's a pure signal.

Yep.

thats what i have, and so another great thing about the ones that connect through the dock is that most of them charge your ipod at the same time

Scorcho is right about the 1/8 mini jack. I get distortion in my Camry all the time. The Nano works way better in my Maxima which is one of the last cars with a CD player and a tape deck. I use the tape deck connection and the sound quality is outstanding. It helps that Maximas come with a Bose System. I don't really like the sound system in the 07 Camry that much.
