Has anyone seen the film yet? I imagine it is done very well. I wonder if they will make a film called 'We are WSU or Wichita State U'? WSU also lost their football team to a plane crash a year apart from MU. There was a boy from Tampa's King high school named Tommy Owen who was a football player at WSU and on that plane who did not survive. WSU continue to play football until sometime later it was dropped yrs later due to financial issues.

I will see it...
...and have seen some of the memorials first hand up at Marshall. That stuff, alone, is very moving...
...as I remember very vividly when it happened. If one is prone to google "We are Marshall" on a news search, you will find many articles about how the relatives of those killed talk about how the movie does justice to the actual events.

I am hoping to catch this movie in the next week when I get some time off. Should be pretty good. I love sports movies though.

I admit I'm torn. My wife wants to see the movie and I agrew up just across the river from Huntington and the accident site. But McCanaughey is such a knucklehead I hate to in anyway feed his monstrous ego. I had enough of his ridiculous antics in Austin.

That said, I'm a sucker for sports movies. So I'll probably see it and Rocky Balboa as well. But probably not before I get dragged into Pursuit of Happyness.

Sly, if you haven't already seen this, go and find 'The Life of David Gale."
It has to be one of the best movies.....

I'd rather see the Pursuit of Happiness moreso than Rocky. I'm a Will Smith fan though.

Everyone wants to forget Rocky V. Supposedly Balboa tries to pretend like V never happened in the storyline.

Obviously I'm a sucker for Sly flicks myself.

I'm a Marshall alum and have seen the movie 5 times so far and cried through it the first 4 times. Though not blatantly Christian, the movie does have several Christian elements in it--the most striking being the cemetery scene, the chapel scene, and the WVU helmets, so look for those when you go see it.

The one part of the story that they left out, is that one of the 4 returning players--Ed Carter, who missed the flight due to his father's funeral--later went to a Baptist seminary (Tennessee Temple, where Danny Lovett is now) and became an evangelist.

Rocky Balboa doesn't address Rocky V, but doesn't discount it either.

If you like Rocky movies, you will like Rocky Balboa. There may not be a better moment in any movie than the two moments that occur in every Rocky movie (except V). The moment the training sequence starts and the moment in the fight where, despite being pounded by his opponent, the music changes and the momentum of the fight turns. This movie is no different.
