Falwell Sr and Toby Mac were judges for the dunk contest..it was a lot of fun...maybe 2k people there but it was small so the energy in there was awesome..doing it at the Vines is a bad idea..so is playing our season games in the vines..just leaves much to be desired when 1800 people are there in a 9k arena..
Do you remember who hosted that event? I'm hearing he was extremely talented
I chortle audibly.. Do you remember who organized that event and asked you to MC it? ;)

And that's why these things always generally suck. It comes down to who can be the most creatively stupid (like Duke and Kansas every year) or creatively entertaining. Most schools have people running these things that are so far out of touch with reality when it comes to college kids they have no clue what to do and just stick with the same old tired crap every year.

He Talks quite a bit about how good Ezra Talbert is looking now and how he held his own head to head with Gielo in practices last year before his back injury. With Theo out, It becomes even more important that Ezra steps up.
I enjoy hearing that Richea is instilling confidence in the guys.

There is a Farquhar sighting. Steve's son was wearing #30.

John Dawson will be a welcome addition after the semester.

Free pizza was good Play Basketball This team looks energetic but lacks a degree of ta;lnet and for sure any depth. Dawson will be a nice add when he becomes eligible and L like the improvement with Maxwell and Talbert. Hoffman and Reid in boots :(

The breaking news is that Myo Baxter-Bell is on the team and was introduced, but he is red shirting.

Our new guards are going to be quick and great ball handlers. I've never seen an LU guard make so many no-look passes as Hansel did in practice: it looked almost like Globetrotters' talent.

#25 did most of the ball handling on the other team, but his name wasn't on the roster sheet they gave us, so I'm guessing that was Dawson. We're not going to be very tall this year (except for Maxwell and Ezra), but we will push the ball up the court with our ball handling and quickness. It will be a fun team to watch, and it's great having McKay back--with his personality, sense of humor, and coaching skills.

Dawson was #22 and he scored 9 of the white teams 11 points. He will play the two when eligible.

See what the Big South ADs think of our program. O how our program has fallen since Dunton was fired.
The voting panel tabbed High Point (320 points) as the preseason favorite. The Panthers hold a 19-point margin over two-time defending Big South Champion Coastal Carolina (301). Winthrop (281), Radford (188) and Gardner-Webb (187) make up the rest of the top five. Rounding out the remainder of the preseason poll are Longwood (172), UNC Asheville (164), Charleston Southern (140), Presbyterian (132), Campbell (119) and Liberty (42).

Pretty sure ADs aren't voting on preseason polls, if so that would be rather unorthodox.

Here we go again. Little known fact, in the last 3 years under both RD and DL, both LU teams had EXACTLY 34 wins. RD coached 6 years at LU, and DL coached 5 years: in that amount of time each coach had exactly ONE Big South Championship. RD won 46% of his games at LU; DL won 44% of his LU games.

I´m not sure on the other numbers, but DL coached 6 years and RD coached 5 (unless you count his earlier 1 year interum stint). I do find it interesting that with the numbers Cider cited indicating a similar level of ¨success¨over the last 3 years of their tenure, there are still cult followers who think Dunton should have a lifetime contract as our HBB coach, while Layer´s tenure is for the most part looked on as an abject failure by all parties.

I am not sure I have ever seen such blind support for a coach in my life.

I believe it is the beat writers who make these picks, but whoever it is once again giving a lot of love to a High Point program that has never, I repeat NEVER won a BSC tournament or made an NCAA appearence.
