We've come too far, fought too hard and waited too long to now start taking shots at our own brother down on the field, trying to get things right. If we get blown out at home on Saturday, I'll still be wearing LU red on Monday. At some point it stops being about their character and performance and starts being about ours. Go Flames!!

Sometimes your in this bubble with us, and sometimes you like to pretend you sit way on the outside and judge everything about it. It must be a lonely place floating in space with no bubble, tryin to poke holes in everyone elses bubble.

Medic... have another.

I'm thankfully out of the Liberty bubble. I was in it for the 4.5 years I was there but life is much better outside the bubble.

I think it's a requirement of the :flamingdevil to have a home address outside the bubble.

Wrong on so many levels.

I don't agree with all of the criticism, but what has been said on here is pretty tame. If the GWU and Monmouth losses would have happened to Montana, NDSU, etc., it is likely that someone wouldn't have come home with the team.

There you have it, the real truth from SuperJon! ... from outside the LU bubble. The truth we have always wanted to know. Sparing no expense, for 4.5 year he has scoured the sidelines, hockey rinks, golf courses, locker rooms, board rooms, and even bathrooms to bring it to us!

Just messing with ya JonBoy!

I agree with Josh....a lot of you guys kinda are D bags to these kids...they're student athletes....they are not professionals...you guys treat it as though they must be perfect in every aspect. Support the team and shut up.

Because honesty is better than telling people their poop doesn't stink. The last thing a coddled "star" QB needs is another source of delusion for his undeserved ego when he's playing like a steaming pile and being an even worse leader.

I agree completely with this and include myself in that. It is a message board though and nobody should take it so seriously.

"The season is over."
"Josh Woodrum is not the leader we thought he was."
"With their season virtually over,...."
"The team....everyone has written them off this season."

These are all headlines or statements found at libertyflamesnation.com, sometimes with your photo right next to them. You open the webpage and there they are.

Now you're a 23-year old football player in your senior season with 4 games left. You have worked hard for months and months to try and lead your team to success and things aren't going well. Because you have more personally invested, you are naturally more upset and more disappointed than any fan possibly could be.

Your teammates see the negative statements above and draw your attention to them. They are coming from a source you know, is in various press conferences and often asks for player interviews. You disagree with those sentiments and with four games left to be played and personal and team goals left to be achieved you have to be wondering, "Are these guys for us or against us?"

Reality Check: I don't understand the difficulty apparently many of you are having understanding why Josh would be upset and call out the "FlamesNation" website. Put yourself in his position. What would you do?

That's one thing......

Regarding the back and forth chatter in the FlamesFansForums at flamefans.com, I doubt as a graduate student and football player that Josh has the time to keep up with the various threads and comments posted. Any criticism there is generally buried in the threads and he'd have to go looking for it. I doubt that he knows or cares.

Besides, he made his target clearly known at the press conference. Just listen to what he said, "For starters, you know, I have been having a lot of guys coming up to me and talking, you know, about this FlamesNation beat writing stuff...."

Sorry to deflate some egos, but Josh directed his anger at the "FlamesNation" website and the column authors, not the fan forums.

Josh said what he needed to say. Now he needs to back it up.

FlamesNation is made up of the most committed fans I know - committed enough to want their team to do well, and expect nothing less than victories, especially over the Gardner-Webbs and Monmouths of the league. We WANT the team to finish 7-4 and give the committee something to think about come playoff time. We WANT Josh to show us, not just tell us ;)

Mission accomplished! :clapping

And according to the post-game show, Josh is now the all time leading passer at LU, surpassing Robbie Justino.

:I chortle audibly.:

We never want to post anything negative. Sometimes you have to though. That will continue when necessary. Sorry.
I don't blame you. You have to tell it like it is and not be all fake and PC.

Spangler made the good point: it's not going to be cutting-edge sports journalism when the author list is composed of did hard fans. I wouldn't even call it journalism. Just too much emotion.

But I don't think that's what the operators of the site are trying to call it or make it. So, no big deal. The only time it may become confusing is when a person like this is sitting next to legitimate news journalists in a press conference. But I believe that's when the lines between the two sides make themselves even more clear.

"Given up on this team"...good, maybe now an unbiased form of sports journalism may emerge. It's nothing to be ashamed of. But fan emotion has no place in real journalism.

Flames Nation isn't journalism. I don't know that anyone thought it really was because it's not supposed to be. It's a fan blog ran and written by fans. It has its place in the media just as journalists do, but it is what it is and that's okay.

I think the distinction comes in the bias. Journalism presents an unbiased view of what is going on. Not being a journalist isn't an insult.
