No, I wouldn't say a bad fan, a bit misguided if you think that's going to happen, but not a bad fan at all. Where would the fun in all that be especially with them now going big time on us.

If you're going to use Coach Gill's favorite expression, please at least spell it correctly: "per se." :fineprint

We're fans (and armchair quarterbacks and coaches) so of course we're going to envision being ranked in the top 5 with Coastal, 25,500 red clad Liberty fans (and 500 or so teal clad Coastal fans) packing Williams Stadium for the ESPNEWS game in November, top 4 national seeding, planning a trip to Texas for the NC game in January, and any number of things. the players canNOT allow themselves to do that, the coaches canNOT allow them to do that. we got all big headed last year and Indiana State came in with a needle and popped that balloon to the tune of 38-19. we need to take each week as a 1 game season and to some that may sound like "coachspeak nonsense", but that keeps the players focused on what's in front of them and with as good as things are right now, even with the issues that have come up each game, that needs to be their mindset.
But were we really big headed or could it have been that Indiana State was simply better, on that day. Ive heard you say that a couple of times about how ISU popped our bubble per say.
Actually I think it was a combination of both. We were coming off a win over a ranked Bryant squad at home, feeling really good about ourselves, and Indiana State was coming off a 1-11 season the year before, and had a transfer QB in his second year as the starter (and actually looked a lot better at ISU than he did at his previous stop). We came out flat, and they did everything we weren't doing and drummed us out of the stadium.

Also, thank you to our resident English professor for correcting my improper spelling of "per se"

Over analyzing once again.

Noted...I'll remember as I strap up Saturday to stay focused on one beer at a time and not focus on the whole 6 pack.

Unless of course we get down by more then 2 scores...then you double fist those beers!

As I said 09, we're fans so of course we are going to have grandiose visions of what could be. I don't think that comparing how you decide to consume your alcoholic beverages, sarcastic as it may be, is a fair comparison to an 11 game schedule for a team that is looking to boldly go where no LU team has gone before

I agree with phoenix.

Even if CCU is still ranked #1 and we beat them, they will still probably get a better seed. This is CCU we're talking about and they're the darlings of FCS.

No they won't, not if we both go into that game undefeated at the FCS level.

The poll I saw had us 18th.

Jacksonville State was #1 and the darlings were #2. JMU was 6th (what a joke). Richmond was 19th, (another joke).

I think 18 is the fairest ranking we've had all year.

Anywhere between 15-20 seems about right to me. Especially after last week.

We had a few losses above us (Montana State, Portland State come to mind off hand), so we may be just on the outside of the top 10 I think when the polls come out tomorrow

Also, William and Mary, Northern Iowa and South Dakota State lost this week

LOL. Keep working on your prophetic gifting young Padawan learner, as you had also previously said: "Granted, I have no clue what the teams above us did."
