Otherwise, I thought the entire game was absolutely fantastic. We can't let off the gas though, things could change quickly in these next four games.

Agreed wholeheartedly. The only time this chant is appropriate is if you are not a top 25 team and you beat a top 5/10 team. A 14 beating a 7 is an accomplishment and does not mean the 7 is overrated.

I dont remember the name of the song, it talked about Flames, and they played it on repeat as I was walking out of the stadium.

I did a quick search and couldnt find the title.

Do you remember any other lyrics? I'm curious now.

I agree, I've always felt this way. That chant needs to die. And to make it worse, they were saying it when Montana had plenty of time to come back.

I believe the replay guy slept thru most of the game. I looked at video board after all the big plays, and they were not shown probably 75% of the time. They were too focused on student section rather than showing replays.

I wish NCAA would ban music other than the band.

The fans were the loudest I have heard in long time.

if you ban the music, the fans go away. 22,500 fans didn't show up to watch football, they showed up to be entertained.

VAGolf wrote:My favorite part about Saturday however, wasn't the game, it was Gill's press conference. He acknowledged how good Montana is and how big of a win this was, and in the same breath he mentioned how we didn't play our best. It would be easy to sit back and just ride the win but he knows that this team can be even better. That was encouraging to hear.
This is what I'm afraid our fans are missing. Yes, we won a gigantic game for us. But we didn't play our best at all. If our offense can play like they did in the first half of the first quarter for a full game, we'll be a legitimate Top 10 team. We have to have good play calling, good blocking, and good decision making from the quarterback for that to happen. We had all three of those come together at times on Saturday, but more often than not, two of the three were missing in one spot or another.

As a fan in the stands, this is annoying.

However, you know what would be more annoying?

A half empty student section.

The students enjoy seeing themselves on screen. It leads to the increase in energy in the stadium.

Therefore, as annoying as it is, we're going to keep showing the students.

I agree with Ri on the music, and there's no reason not to give thought to what is played. Considering the One we represent as a university, we should have standards that match.

It was a great game, and great atmosphere. Wish we had appealing opponents like that in more often and someday we will, hopefully sooner than later. The crowd was great. We had seats in the upper-deck blue section and, while it wasn't exactly raucous, it was loud and everybody was really into the game and enjoying it. Great night.

I take personal responsibility for the overrated chant. Right now the student section kind of cues off of the front. This can be good when we get people up on the rails signaling to get quiet, and can be good when we get wild in the front or get a good chant going. I'm near the center and have people ten yards to my left and ten and twenty yards to my right that I communicate with and we often start the chants. Overrated chant was suggested, it was shot down, and than again people wanted to do it so I was like whatever. It won't happen again, sorry about that guys.

Although that chant was a bummer, I am really proud of the students for showing up and being as awesome as they were. They also miraculously stopped cheering on offense, we only have to get the cheerleaders to settle down.

Joey Counts, the Montana running back, made several vulgar gestures at the student section throughout the game. It was puzzling because no one was even going after him. After he gestured a few times some students were giving it back but in an appropriate way (we have RA's/Mature students spread out to make sure nothing is said that would cause us to lose our testimony) When he lost the fumble on the goal line however, he sure heard about it!

Taylor Swift , Blank Space
[Verse 1]
Nice to meet you
Where you been?
I could show you incredible things
Magic, madness, heaven, sin
Saw you there and I thought oh my god
Look at that face, you look like my next mistake
Love's a game, wanna play
New money, suit and tie
I can read you like a magazine
Ain't it funny rumors fly
And I know you heard about me
So hey, let's be friends
I'm dying to see how this one ends
Grab your passport and my hand
I could make the bad guys good for a weekend

[Pre-Chorus]
So it's gonna be forever
Or it's gonna go down in flames
You can tell me when it's over
If the high was worth the pain
Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane
Cause you know I love the players
And you love the game

[Chorus]
Cause we're young and we're reckless
We'll take this way too far
It'll leave you breathless
Or with a nasty scar
Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane
But I got a blank space baby
And I'll write your name

[Verse 2]
Cherry lips
Crystal skies
I could show you incredible things
Stolen kisses, pretty lies
You're the king baby I'm your queen
Find out what you want
Be that girl for a month
But the worst is yet to come
Oh no
Screaming, crying, perfect storms
I could make all the tables turn
Rose garden filled with thorns
Keep you second guessing like oh my god
Who is she? I get drunk on jealousy
But you'll come back each time you leave
Cause darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream

[Pre-Chorus]
So it's gonna be forever
Or it's gonna go down in flames
You can tell me when it's over
If the high was worth the pain
Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane
Cause you know I love the players
And you love the game

[Chorus]
Cause we're young and we're reckless
We'll take this way too far and leave you breathless
Or with a nasty scar
Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane
But I got a blank space baby
And I'll write your name

[Bridge]
Boys only want love if it's torture
Don't say I didn't say I didn't warn you
Boys only want love if it's torture
Don't say I didn't say I didn't warn you

[Pre-Chorus]
So it's gonna be forever

ARE YOU CRAZY, what are you apologizing for, YOU are in college NOT some of these "fans" that sit on the other side of the stadium, trying to monitor your actions. There is NOTHING wrong with what your saying, your NOT wishing anyone harm, and your NOT creating a riot, its fanfare and gets the noise level to a fever pitch. Hell, why shouldn't you say it if that's how you feel. Are you demeaning the whole city for calling a team overrated, you WON"T ever see it happen at an ACC BB game I can tell you that. This is some of the most mind blowing stuff on these boards sometimes. People want to try and police everything it seems like. If your OVER RATED its an opinion if your UNDER RATED its an opinion, get over yourselves.

I apologized for much worse when I was in his shoes. If our biggest "issue" is an overrated chant than I'd say they're doing pretty dang good over there.

All I can say is... maybe JMU saw the writing on the wall. They might have been smart or lucky to avoid a trip to Williams Stadium this season. It sort of ticks me off, because we have one less home game and a ton of away games in a row.

Keep doing a great job, jyoung! Over-rated is a lame chant but I agree that it is a minor blip on a fantastic job by the student section on Saturday.

My one complaint about the Jokers is they claim to be established in 2011.

We established them in 2008:

Thanks for the kind words guys! Sorry we didn't give the 2008 crew credit.

I've got tons of stories about the game and our experiences over the years, I will be sure to drop in more often. Overall I just want to say that our only real goal is to support Liberty football and help the program grow.

Also, wow! More details on the Dan Patrick show thing, that is awesome!

I've missed zero home games since 2006 and this was by far the best game day experience *ever*. No complaints here - what's there to complain about? We had the Robertson family raising the #71 flag, sky divers, BEAUTIFUL weather, Hall of Fame inductees, The Walk (players, drum line, Sparky, free shirts!), great tailgate (friends and food), record-setting crowd, the Jokers (i even like the new group with striped pants and fuzzy hair), LOUD stadium music (something for everyone, SIU buttercup you don't have to like it all!), the L-U chant à la John Lunsford on the board is FUN, the marching band, the guy breathing fire (WAY better than the red-jacket guy), full Student Section (amazing), CFAW, Parent's Weekend, my seat's on the 50 yd line. And WE WON.

I'm always early, VERY loud, wearing red - and I stay all four quarters.

Go Flames!
