A win over the Griz would be a statement win for us at home (and no doubt send the Griz message board into hysterics). A loss doesn't doom us, but does mean we probably have some work yet to do to be one of those top tier FCS squads.
What? Like Coastal? lol Last time they faced a P5 team (South Carolina 2 years ago) they lost 70-10.

Do you think there is anybody in FCS who can beat WVU? I don´t.

Perhaps. In the great world of "should haves" and "what ifs," LU held their own. Our team should be proud of their performance yesterday. <if> Liberty had scored the missed field goals and made just a couple more tackles, the game would have looked quite different. Is WVU better than Liberty? Without a doubt. Could Liberty have won? Yep. I look forward to our "App State" moment. I think it will come.

cpl points have not been mentioned

I feel WVU won the battle of field position.
3/12 on third down vs 8/13 for them
why did it take Petey getting dinged up before they really were forced to have to find other WR's to contribute. Makes you one dimensional
I feel they tackled better than we did.
they had no sacks but I feel we settled for the check downs to the back to much
way to many drops again

There is no question Josh has relied too much on Petey, and it has made us easier to defend. Hopefully :pray the plays those other guys made yesterday will change his mind set to one where he looks for the best receiving option on every play, regardless of who it is. It´s great to have an All-American you can be confident in throwing to when NOONE is really open because he is a physical mismatch for most corners, but if another guy is OPEN, they need to get the ball.

The bigger IF: on at least one of those occasions had Petey not dropped a sure TD or had we not bobbled the option toss that would have been 12 points (14 with the PAT)

Gill should have called timeout at the end of the first, John would have been kicking with the wind had quarter not ended.

Add the nine points of missed field goals and add to that the field position taken away had we kicked off , I believe we would have been right in this.

Love the hawk role tackling by our players. Tackling in open field is so much improved.

Who's Hot : Erwin Desources, Woodrum , O-Line
Who's Not: Lunsford , Petey
Agree with everything except Peterson.

Drop a 30 yard pass, when there isnt a defender within 5 yards of you, that would have def gone for a TD, Your NOT. He had several drops. Look he is a good player, but he needs to catch the ball if we are going to target him 20 times a game.

I didn´t have access to a video feed of the game, so I didn´t see the play, but guys on here have posted that it was a drop by Petey and an overthrow by Woodrum in just about equal numbers, so apparently the catch was not a gimme. If you want to nitpick, I guess you can say he is not ¨hot¨, but IMHO he has played pretty well.

The one-handed reception by Farrow was a circus catch. The WVU fans sitting next to me grabbed their programs to find out more about this kid. When I told him that he was freshman, they couldn't believe it.

The missed touchdown play I am talking about was nothing except a drop. He stuck one arm up, and it hit him near the forearm. No defensive preasure around him.

Agree with everything except Peterson. He has 12 catches for 147 yards in just 5 quarters of action. I can´t fault him because the coaches took him out for minor injuries against Del St when the game was in hand and WVU, a game which in the bigger scheme of things is less important than the upcoming games against FCS opponents. I really believe his missing the second half against WVU will ultimately work to our benefit. It gave Farrow, Shells and Parker a chance to shine and hopefully Woodrum will have more confidence in them going forward.

Hate to tell you, your may be wrong. If everyone in the world knows hes an all american and your best WR you have a cpl options imo. One the other team wants to try and take him away, you have to create ways to get him the ball or just say that he is better than your other teams DB's. Still to inconsistent. I would try to get others involved first to open him up to do his thing later. When the game is on the line or a big play needed then you go to your money guy. He has those numbers based on over half the targets going to him. If he wasn't hurt at Del St they keep him in and stat pile. The others stepping up will hopefully take pressure off him having to think he has to do it all.

Just to add to the type of team we played against. Every starter in WVU's linebacker and secondary units run a 4.5 or less. Our own defense crowded the box a lot and were successful because our DEs did a great job penetrating. It broke down a little in the second half when the scholarship differential played a role with our depth.

I don't really remember Peterson missing on a wide open TD pass but I watched the game live without replay, perhaps if I saw it again I'd think otherwise. I do remember one play in which I thought Josh missed a little on a throw, maybe that was the same play, not sure. Nonetheless, WVU was really keying on Peterson and I thought he did really well all things considered. Would liked to see him play in the second half but understand why they held him out.

There's a lot to be happy about heading into next week.
