They did the new Go, Flames, Go chant 3 times. They only did it when we were playing on OFFENSE...then the screen encouraged people to MAKE SOME NOISE.

I do not want the screen encouraging people to make noise while we have the ball.

The flamethrowers also had a sign up and were yelling at people to MAKE SOME NOISE...again, we were on offense...Woodrum was actually motioning people to be quite because it was 3rd down.

Also, I could do without encouraging people to post their hashtags and show it on the screen...I'd rather not encourage people to look at their phones.

The crowd was amazing.

I think Des Rice looked Good.

I hope Petey is OK.

The colorguard of the band looked really good...it was really clean and together for the first show. It look likes they only have flags and don't have any sabres or rifles this year...I like that decision.

Nice 52 yard FG as well. I wish the first one wouldn't have been blocked.

This was the first time I have really been able to watch a game in a couple of years due to my iffy internet situation. I forked out a few pesos for a temporary 2mgb prepaid connection (something I have tried before without success because the signal was just too weak in my location). This time it worked, and I was able to watch the entire game with minimal buffering on the BSC feed linked through the AC site I was a happy camper.

We made the game closer than it should have been with stupid penalties and dropped passes, but I was quite frankly more concerned with how Woodrum played. I know his receivers let him down a few times, but we need him to be better. He can´t overthrow receivers open for TDs like he did Shells in the first half, and is it just me, or did the extra beef he put on over the summer seem to have slowed him down a bit?

Newman is a huge talent, but he fell back into his undisciplined Freshman ways with those 2 penalties. He´s a team leader now. He can´t do that stuff. If Peterson is seriously hurt, guys like Farrow, Shells and maybe one or 2 more need to seriously up their game. Couman´s injury is a concern as well. He had won the TE position decisively, and I just don´t know if any of the other guys can be the threat he is.

I suspect you are thinking about Georgia State. Georgia Southern is a quality team. I´m impressed that WVU was able to get the shutout against their option offense.

I suspect we are not the only BSC fans who are less than fully satisfied with yesterday´s win. For the second year in a row, CCU barely squeaks by a Furman team that was picked to finish 5th in the SoCon. Final score 38-35. Furman with over 500 yards on offense. Let´s see if this drops the chickens in the polls. Probably not much.

Coastal continues to underwhelm. They did it all last season really. I'm sure no one will notice though. They'll be in the top 3 in no time.

The thing is, they have proven in the playoffs they are better than that. I know at times people say Liberty tends to play to the level of competition, but the last couple of years CCU taken that bad habit to another level and has been playing with fire. If they keep it up, eventually they will get burned. The pollsters may ignore close wins against mediocre opponents, but a loss to one of those teams will be a lot harder to overlook.

This has been Josh for the last three years though. When he is on, he's great. He hits those deep balls and we're clicking. When he's off, he overthrows every single one of them which is what he did last night.

It doesn't help that we drop a ton of balls. That's been our MO the past two years.

I didn´t say anything at the time, but I wasn´t real happy about Josh´s seeming emphasis on his personal goals at the BSC media day. If he is going to be POY (to steal a phrase from Matt Hogue) it will be because of what he does, not what he says. He needs to play better.

the Liberty team that faced JMU and Villanova last season in the playoffs would have lit last nights flames up. Where is the continuity? We need improvement. A few of the receivers still show major focus issues in their drops. Noone should care how fast or athletic they are if they can't catch a pass. I keep hearing about speed and athletes but what about fundamentals? OL was pretty bad. Overall, last night left me wondering where the discipline was?

If we play like we did last night, Montana will destroy us at home and SIU on the road. Hopefully this game was a wake up call.

I said last year after the UNC game that the talent was there. Last night a national championship team did not play in Williams stadium. Be better, stay better!

Well glad one of us could pick it up. I rescanned everything and still couldn't pick it up. This after getting 7, 10, 13, 21, 27, 38, 43 and all respective subchannels flawlessly using a 50 mile outdoor antenna for the past year. Doesn't make sense, unless it's just really low powered.

Lunsford has demonstrated that he can get us a touchback pretty much any time he wants to on kickoffs, yet we still mess around with having him kick it high and returnable. Yeah, I know the TB comes out 5 yards further now, and it worked out OK against Del St, with only one being returned outside the 25, but it still scares me. Hopefully against better teams with more dangerous returners we will just turn Legatron loose. BTW, Devin Brown returned another one 100 yards for Coastal yesterday (hint, hint).

A little rocky at times but I think we will have a legit season. Loved the new player walk into stadium. I got to high-5 a few starters. Haha. Game atmosphere was awesome.

I just watched the replay on ESPN 3 and was blown away. They have taken it to a new level. The graphics, the way it looked on camera, and the announcers were crazy good. So proud to be a Liberty Flame.

My biggest concern from yesterday is the offensive line. The talent may be there but the inexperience is very evident. Most of yesterday just seemed to be opening game jitters. One thing I do know, we have absolutely one of the best QB's in the country. Woodrum looked like a star.

The vibe inside of the stadium was excellent. Music was great, students were great, baptist side still needs to step up. However, I will never understand the "new tradition" that marketing tried to create yesterday. Besides the fact that the very definition of tradition and new contradict each other, the "Go Flames Go" chant is just plain lame. It reminds me of that "tradition" we tried to start with basketball called "the spirit run." That was when the cheer team and Sparky ran onto the court in the second half. With that said, the rest of the environment yesterday felt like a big party. It was awesome and the students responded well.

It really sounds like you only watched the first 20 minutes or so of the game. Overall, Woodrum was mediocre at best. As far as the OL is concerned, I guess Des and Abner gained those 225 yards (5.7 ypa) all by themselves. Josh was pressured a few times, but only sacked once. There is room for improvement for sure, but from what I saw it is needed at LEAST as much from the QB as the OL.

3. Woodrum had a lot of balls dropped, not many bad passes.
4. The long pass that appeared over thrown to Shells was really a good pass. I was watching Shells and he slowed down just a step or two. He either thought Woodrum couldn't throw the ball that far so late in the play, or thought the ball wasn't coming his way.
5. Way too many penalties.
6. Petey didn't look like himself after the first 10 minutes of the game. He was very hesitant to go over the middle on a couple of slant routes.
7. I never saw the Flamethrowers, except at the entrance gate going into the game. (Thank goodness). Don't believe they came into the Club Level at all. Didn't see them in the upper level seats either.
8. We were not showing much of what we can do on offense. Why against such a weak team? I am sure we could have opened it up a lot, but chose not to. Think that was a good decision.
9. The DB's gave up 3 long passes by not looking back for the ball at all. The balls could have been easily knocked down, but the DB had no idea the ball was thrown their way.
10. We need our TE back. He looked good before being hurt.
11. Going to have to play a lot more disciplined to have a chance against Montana.

I was there for the whole thing. He played great all night long. Would have completed closer it 65% if it weren't for several dropped passes. And the OL's problems yesterday were all due to inexperience, that isn't Woodrum's responsibility.

I noticed that as well. Alpha Jalloh was guilty of this numerous times and it even resulted in a penalty or two. If we do that against WVU, they will light up the scoreboard.

Their two outside receivers had great games. True Freshman Jovon Durante 3-121-1 and Sophomore Shelton Gibson 3 - 130 - 1. They both have 4.3/4.4 speed. And doesn't take into consideration their quarterback overthrowing them a few times.

I think we kept it vanilla on offense. We didn't break out any of the option game that was so successful last year. The o line was a little shaky the first 2 drives but they got better. I thought woodrum was OK and flameshaw was right shells slowed up on the deep ball. He also had another big drop. We hit really hard on defense and showed great athleticism. I think that's the most physical defensive showing I've seen from us. The secondary does need to play the ball better but they are so young that some of that was going to happen. I really think we kept the game plan very vanilla. Hope coumain is okay. He is huge with yards after the catch. I don't think we have another tight end on the roster that can do what he doe says.
