Can someone explain to me this HATRED for RG3? I'm not a 'Skins fan and I really don't get it.

1,2,3......what are the top issues that drive people insane about this guy?

I am not a skins fan but live in dc and I can't really figure it out either. I guess his personality rubs people the wrong way. Or the fact that the skins risked so much to draft him. He is far from the main problem in that organization that's for sure.

I listed the big 3 per Kiwon's request. The big issue is his locker room presence. Everyone knows that he is the owners favorite. He apparently doesn't put the work in he needs to do and knows nothing will happen to him because he's Snyders guy. Some of that is due to the fact he's been injured a lot.
He also leaves his teammates out to dry sometimes in press conferences. Lots of 'We need to do this...." Not a lot of "I need to do this better".
I was anxious to see a Luck/RG3 rivalry for years and years. I was hoping he'd be the next level Randall Cunningham

He has completely awful footwork. Many freshman and college quarterbacks have better footwork than RG3.

He has had issues with every offensive lineman he's played with.

He has had issues with every coach that he's played for.

When the Redskins made the playoffs during his rookie year, he averaged right around 25 attempts per game, which is incredibly low. In other words, Shanahan was putting duct-tape over what Rg3 really is.

He's absolutely awful. One of the worst QB's to ever play in Washington.

They apparently shopped him around the league and there were zero takers. There's a good chance he is actually cut.

I suspect the prima donna attitude may disappear after a huge dose of humility is poured on him.

I know that is the feeling around here that he has some huge ego and think he is untouchable and all of that good stuff but I honestly think it all goes back to ownership setting him up for failure. Dan Snyder is an absolute idiot and whenever I get upset with how the pro sports teams I follow are run all I do is look at the Redskins and realize it could be much, much worst. If I was RG III I would ask for my release. He needs a fresh start somewhere and could end up being a very productive QB in this league he just needs to get the heck out of DC.

Oh boy, here we go. "terrible footwork!", yes, we're all experts in qb mechanics now. One guy says it, everyone follows suit. It's funny how everyone said the exact opposite before he was drafted. NEWSFLASH: there's more than one way to throw a ball.

The biggest problem I see is a perception created by (shock!) the media. Everything the guy says is dissected and twisted. And it hasn't helped that Gruden has been such a dooosh with him. Their o-line was atrocious last year, may not be much better this year despite drafting a lineman very high.

They need to give the guy a full season to see what he can do, and run an offense that takes advantage of your best players. Griffin gives them the best chance to be exceptional.


Sorry, this whole thing has been extremely frustrating for fans.

Before I make my point, I'm a Rams fan so I don't have a dog in the fight beyond this post.

The Redskins have botched handling RGIII in the years after his rookie season and injury in the playoffs. he has never been a pocket passer and they have tried to shoehorn him into a pocket passer mold. If they worked with the skillset that led to his going from unknown to Heisman Trophy winner and top 5 draft pick, maybe things go better for them. maybe not 10+ wins every year, but it certainly could have turned out better than it has been
He certainly could stand to work on his interview skills and personal responsibility, but there is blame to be had for the coaches and front office as well

He's the owner's pet. That's the biggest thing. Once his knee was injured he and his dad went to Snyder personally and forced the team to not use him in the read option anymore. The problem is that he's never been a pocket passer, he can't read defenses at all, and he doesn't put the film work in to get better. Throw in the part where most of the locker room seems to despise him, mostly because he constantly threw teammates under the bus in interviews, and you've got a guy who was catered to for his entire life and can't handle any criticism at all.

Just this past offseason Gruden declared an open QB competition. Suddenly it was announced that the job belonged to little Bobby Griffin and nobody could explain why.

Here's a great look at just how completely clueless he is reading the field. Greg Cosell breaks down his game against Tampa Bay last year including a play with a clean pocket and 5 wide open receivers where he ended up scrambling and throwing the ball away. He's atrocious at everything other that arm strength and straight line speed.
