Did they not promise stadium expansion? Attendance increases? Or did they show that?

They didn't announce it today, only said they're going to have to increase their fan support.

"It is my pleasure to officially welcome the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers to the Sun Belt." - Karl Benson, Sun Belt Commissioner

In all sincerity, congratulations to Coastal Carolina. It's a big day for their athletics program and their faculty, staff and students.

I don't think you caught the meaning of LUconn's post. He was pointing out the lack of veracity of the Voice of the Big South.

Due to these statements, I feel this entire season and our entire fan base will find new purpose in that one specific game in November.

Oh Man, I cannot wait till November 19th...

Oh, man, just when I was being gracious to them, too! I suppose this is where Proverbs 25:21-22 comes into play? :?

Man, some of you guys are downright comical. The AD makes a general statement like that and the immediate reaction is that he's somehow singling out Liberty and lacks class for giving credit to the players and coaches for on field success???

understood R i. I forgot that we live in the United States of the Offended. I kind of wished now that I had just let it ride, but being that there were like 3 responses in a row in the same vein, it was just too hard to let it slip by. Hogue made no mention of LU.

It's a frustrating day. It's difficult to be patient, and I'm not fond of languishing. But patience and endurance are requirements when there is no foreseeable choice.

We are looking for anything.I have been watching #theblock, or the #thehandofChima all day to help me cope. Beating Coastal this year, eliminating them from the playoffs would be a nice dose of "stay calm and Flame on" as well.

By the way, if we beat Coastal and GSU this year, will we be 4-0 in against SunBelt members in 2 seasons ?

People on here are acting hysterical. By acting sour towards Coastal and/or their fans, what are we gaining?

Congrats to Coastal. I am truly happy for you guys; pay no attention to the negativity that some have displayed on this board. They don't speak for the rest of the LU community.

I think Coastal Carolina has every reason to be thrilled at this turn of events, and they should give credit and honor to their athletes and coaches for elevating their programs to national prominence. I congratulate them and wish them nothing but success in the Sun Belt. I suspect they will end up in the New Orleans Bowl in December.

Of course the AD wouldn't mention LU by name - he's too bright and media savvy for that. Given the concerted efforts, however, of LU's athletic and media departments over the past two years to secure an FBS invitation, and President Falwell and AD Barber's logged hours of flight time to the various Sun Belt campuses to woo the presidents of these schools, is there another institution which falls under "..what we've said..." or "...what we've tried to tell people..." as opposed to "...what we've done..." or "...what we've shown..."? Are we considered that naive?

Even so, I still think this is a great day for them, and I harbor no ill will whatsoever toward Coastal Carolina. It's sports, not life or death.

Yeah, not sure why anyone is banging on Coastal moving up. Good for them. And so what if they took a shot at us on the way out? Who cares. They aren't are problem anymore after their pasting on a certain Thursday

Hey, Coastal should thank us.

If it wasn't for us beating Coastal 58-13 back in 08-09...

David Bennet would probably still be there.

And EKU would be joining the Sunbelt today!

We just showed it on the field at the wrong time. :)

They have to complete a two-year transition period first, or get lucky in their second year with not enough bowl-eligible teams to fill slots.

Give people at least a day or two around her to calm down man. That statement was directed toward liberty. I would've actually respected it more had he mentioned us by name. I despise passive agressiveness.

Congrats to you guys but it's going to take a while for me to not be a little bitter. No offense man.

You are absolutely correct about that. In trying to be affirming, I was in error! In 2018, then...!

I'm happy for Coastal. They've been Division I for almost a decade longer than we've been. They had success as an upstart football program.

So two CCU administrators said CCU did enough to get it and pat themselves on the back. Man, that is impressive, what else would you expect them to say? Liberty didn't get in because the conference didn't like them, so we were the next best choice? LOL

For those who are interested, this is a pretty complete article on the CCU move:

http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/sports ... 78953.html

And there is the obligatory statement from the Big South commissioner:

http://www.bigsouthsports.com/entries/s ... l-carolina

An interesting round-table discussion with the Big South "experts and fans" reactions to the news:

http://www.midmajormadness.com/big-sout ... roundtable

The Big South commissioner reportedly said they might pull the Big South basketball tournament out of Myrtle Beach as a result of this move.

The domino effect is interesting to watch.
