It also sets up a nice rivalry game between Florida and Miami in Omaha.

I will let Sly explain to you how much Texas is, or rather is not, part of the South.

My map does not show Texas up north or on west coast. Even more importanty TCU is not in Big 10 or PAC 10, 12 or whatever they call themselves this week.

Its been the PAC-12 for a few years now. Texas is west of the Mississippi and its culture is more western/southwestern than Southern. I say that as someone who moved from the South to Texas. If we REALLY want to to get into it, Miami and, indeed, anywhere in Florida that is south of I-4. may as well be called the Free State of Cuba, administered by the United States of America. Charlottesville is an exclave of Northern Virginia, and no self-respecting NOVAN considers themselves to be a Southerner.

Dude, you live in the pretetntious outpost of Dallas that is filled with Yankee ex-pats. The rest of the state considers itself distinctly Southwestern. But Texas has much more in common with Louisiana & Florida than it does any western state.

Northern Virginia in reality is in a world of it's own, but it's still in Virginia. For the record, I have lived in the following states:

Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Missouri and Maryland.

Good question. Stanford & Rice have regularly been in the finals over the years so that might be a tough statement to defend.

I am no academic Guru, but I think UVA-Vandy players are smarter than Stanford-Rice players.

Rice, Vandy and UVA players are smarter than Stanford players, in the sense that they did not go to a PAC 12 school.

I think it´s safe to say that most graduates of any and all of those institutions likely would be hard pressed to earn the title of Captain Obvious. Having said that, while all 4 have outstanding academic reputations, I think I am pretty safe in saying Stanford is a notch above the other 3.

Growing up in Northern California I knew a lot of folks that attended and graduated from Stanford. While they weren't dullards, they were never even close to the smartest people I've known.

Nice dig at the PAC 12. Now you're getting into the spirit!

I simply do not like PAC 12, nor any school in PAC 12. Same goes for BIg 10, with maybe a couple exceptions.

Just give me LU, ACC and SEC.

I don´t doubt you for a second, but while your experience is first hand, it is also highly anecdotal. Stanford and Princeton are generally considered to be the 2 top academic institutions in the country.
