IF you believe that God is sovereign, then it's ALWAYS about Christ.

</Jesusjuke>

Seriously, though, whether the kid realizes it right now or not, it's totally a Christ thing. WHen I went to Liberty, God and Christ had nothing to do with it, I thought. I applied to five schools, the one I REALLY wanted to get into recruited me, but then I didn't get in. I got into Liberty. It seemed at the time that it was a me thing; didn't get the application in on time, they didn't like my extra-curriculars, whatever. But in retrospect it was totally, 100% part of God's plan - without my time at Liberty, I am a completely different person than I am today.

And I agree with SJ -- the day we downplay the God card is the day we need to just shut the doors. At the very least, it's the day we lose our unique position as a Christian university. And Beej is also right - it's the day that Doc would want us to torch the place.

Is there really anything to agree to disagree on here? Some people come to Liberty because of the Christian aspect, some don't. It could be anything but to just kind of dismiss as not even a possibility seems like a tad bit of an over reaction.

But what do I know, huh?

Yes, there is alot that could be disagreed upon, I am choosing to let it go. I agree with your assessment that ppl come for various reasons, and I never said that HIS reason WASNT for that, I made the comment after another poster just automatically assumed those were his reasons and that is what I was questioning.

 Instead of guessing/assuming his reason(s) for choosing this school over the Ivies, how about having someone from the Flames Nation interview him and ask the open ended question….Why Liberty? I’m sure he’ll give an honest answer.

FORBIDDEN I get where you're coming from

I'm put off by the Jesus Jukes too

not saying thats what the viewpoints above were, but more guys on here than apparently want to admit (or remember) were put off by the "Win or Lose" photos

its the same thing

I will now take shrapnel as well

*** ALL of this is sorta outta place in this poor kid's "welcome to LU" thread ***

It just seems to me that there are plenty of other circumstances on this board that yells 'Jesus juke' way more than anything said in this thread.

Clearly the dude had/has an agenda and flew off the handle because he doesn't quite grasp what a real Jesus Juke is

You're wrong there.

Here is my (hopefully) final comment on this kid.

Im glad he committed. I look forward to his wearing the red white and navy blue of LU for the next 4-5 years, and if Bradwell is toast for us (any further updates on that Manson, Duke or Lang?), he will probably be battling with Swanson and whoever else we sign for #2 behind Masha in 2016

I live a couple miles from MCA. My daughters graduated from a Christian school that played MCA in most sports. I attended many games at MCA watching my girls play them in volleyball, BB, & soccer. It is my firm belief that many, if not a great majority, of the parents with kids in that school would MUCH rather have their kids go to Liberty (or another evangical Christian school) than to any Ivy League school. BTW, the pastor at First Baptist, Indian Trail (the school is a ministry of that Church) just received his Doctorate of Divinity from LU.

Liberty also awarded Dr. Michael Whitson, pastor of First Baptist Indian Trail in North Carolina, an honorary Doctor of Divinity “in recognition of his work as a pastor, educator, and minister of the Gospel and the critical role he has played in training up generations of disciples to further the work of God’s kingdom.” He was introduced by Dr. Ed Hindson, dean of the School of Divinity.

Bo Swanson has been in the program for 3 years and is still a walkon BJ. I would say his chances of ever being our starting QB are lower than winning the powerball. Barring injury to Woodrum, Masha will go into 2016 with only those 2 starts against CSU and CCU under his belt. I would say it is way to early to say everyone else is competing for number 2.
