That's the scariest part of the situation.

Most coaches who come to Liberty would be flight risks anyhow once they sniffed success.

It's one thing that McKay can legitimately be deemed a flight risk. It also says a lot about LU that, more times than not, head coaching changes have not moved the program forward.

Dunton I wasn't progress, Hankinson wasn't progress, Dunton II wasn't progress, McKay had promise, and Layer wasn't exactly progress.

So, the flight risk, combined with LU's hiring track record, will be quite telling to the next recruit.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Great job guys, seriously. I just called the girl that dumped me in college for a saxophone in the marching band to see if she wanted to date again. She said no. So, you guys at least succeeded where I failed.

He played the 'God card' on us, we feel like we got burned, and we see it happening again. Hopefully that isn't the case, and he'll stick around and build a great program, but I just don't see that happening.

I think he is a decent coach and is capable of doing good things. He did good things before when he was here. The problem is the flight risk. With that I'll bow out. It's been fun reading and being back on for a few hours. See ya next year I chortle audibly.
Flight risk? You have to be kidding. EVERY coach that is worth a dime is a flight risk. Do you want to date a girl that is not a flight risk? Not me. I feel good when people look at my wife who is >60 and is often asked if she is the sister of one of my daughters. Much better than he alternative.

This! Any quality coach that we hire is going to have flight risk. Guys like DL don't have a flight risk for a reason. Embrace the risk and have a PLAN for if/when he moves on. That is how great organizations operate.

I'm not sure watching a UVA defense would be considered fun by anyone.

It's wonderful that your wife is attractive and desirable, and that you are the envy of men. But being physically attractive and being trustworthy are two different things. It sounds like you have the best of both worlds. But this argument lacks in the McKay debate.

Folks have a real concern about trust, and McKay himself created that concern. Is he attractive as a coach? Perhaps. Do I trust him? Not sure.

You've got things bass-akwards. UVA defense is great, it's the offense that makes watching paint dry seem exciting.

No.

I want to marry a girl that other people look at and admire but that is so totally committed to me that there is absolutely no flight risk. Those do exist - in women and in basketball coaches. I'm hoping that Ritchie McKay is like that this time around - he wasn't the last time.

I may be in the minority as I was when Seth left and when Ritchie left but there is nothing to forgive as far as I am concerned. Both those guys did what was best for their careers at the time. The timing was terrible for Liberty but that is life. I am excited about the hire. Getting the Top Assistant from the #2 team in the nation is a big deal.

Not its not Scar... for guys like you and Hold my own and other guys that haven't ben out in the world, it makes LU look cheap and makes LU look silly. No other school the last 6 years would hire McKay, like Navy, Lipscomb, Charleston places that look at his resume and see a mediocrity -- You guys fall this crap.. He didn't recruit anyone at UVA. he sits on TV and whispers in Tony's ear like anyone else could sit there and do. Time will tell be happy with 4th place finishes.

I think this is Barber's "Rocco bringing back Asa" moment. Not in the sense that its the wrong move, but that its a do or die decision. If this doesn't work, JB will probably need to accept a position at UR.

I did say "date"................. not marry. Doesn't really matter. The point is that I wouldn't want to be with someone, that no one else wanted. Welcome Home RMK.

Where do you think I work and live? I've been in Corporate America for 20 plus years, the last 4 as an executive. I don't live in Lynchburg. I just spent the past season covering CUSA and Atlantic 10. I hope I'm not included in the guys that haven't been out in the world. HMO on the other hand has never left campus :P
